I've done two media swap-outs with these rings. I'm used to ones that are a bit larger, but these allow for more surface area exposed to the water. I have a turtle and large fish in the aquarium so I replace the media often; very cost effective. Even with how often I swap out media, I should have enough to last for a few months. I haven't had problems with the medium. I have used this in my canister filter and they provide a surface for bacteria to grow. I have not had a problem with the aquarium chemistry when the aquarium is fully cycled. You will also have more than what you will need which is great.

Compared to the media sold at my LFS, this is by far the best bang for the buck. It looks to be dimilar to its expensive Fluval counterpart but alot cheaper. I use this in my custom filters and it works great, No issues at all and my water parameters are stable. Used in a heavily stocked 75g tank. My Amonia and Nitrite always read 0.Will be ordering more for my other tanks

I'm using this exclusively in 3 indoor filters now. No more floss, foam, pads, or satchels of carbon. Great biological filter media.
