Qty (2) StrongArm 6550 Compatible With Toyota 4Runner 2010 To 2018 Liftgate Lift Supports

I needed to replace the liftgate supports on my 2016 4Runner after one of the struts failed (under 30,000 miles on my vehicle). I generally take my vehicles to professionals to have any work done but after seeing a $500 price tag to replace with OEM struts at the dealership ($200 per strut and $100 in labor), I opted to do the work myself. Having no prior experience with this type of replacement, the install took all of about 5 minutes. I seriously couldn't believe how easy the replacement was. I used a ladder to support the weight of the door while I popped off the old support struts and popped on the new ones. The only tool required for the install is a flat-head screwdriver to release the clips that hold the original struts in place. I can't attest to the longevity of the new support struts given that I just installed them but am super pleased with initial performance, price, and ease of install. Seriously, save yourself hundreds of dollars with these bad boys.

I replaced the tailgate struts on my 2013 4 Runner with these Strongarm lift supports. Simple install with a flat bladed screwdriver. My rear hatch flies up now - so much so it now hits my garage door (needed to put some pads on it.) Much stronger that the factory units they replaced. I am confident these would have no problem lifting a hatch with a ladder installed on it. Toyota still needs to offer an automatic lift-gate - maybe the 2030 model will finally get that.

One of the OEM lift supports on my 2015 4Runner completely failed in the middle of a major road trip. I checked with several Toyota dealerships while I was on the road but none of them had the OEM part in stock and quoted a price of $197 per strut and about $100 to install. The StrongArm after market for $39 for the pair and it was a 5 minute install. A perfect fit and even better lift assist than the OEM parts. Saved my self $460. We will see about the durability but the originals only lasted 4 years so I think these will be fine.

I was able to take off my old worn out liftgate struts and put these on in 15 minutes. They do the trick. My liftgate opens easily now. I do have to use a little more effort to get it to start closing, but that's to be expected. They fit my 2012 4runner perfectly.

I've used Strong Arm hatch lifts for many years and they are always easy to install and have always lasted as longer than the original lifts. These were easy to install and I am expecting the same longevity I've experienced in the past.

So far these have been an awesome replacement. The factory ones failed which is notorious for these vehicles and for the price compared to buying dealership parts you can’t beat it! I suggest watching the YouTube videos on replacement it will make the job even quicker. Also having help holding up the hatch while you replace is a good idea. It took less than 5 minutes to replace them and now my trunk works perfectly. Hopefully they hold up longer than the factory ones!

I bought these to replace mine that no longer were holding up the tailgate. Replaced as a pair. They work as they should, although I remember the OEM's being stronger as it could lift the tailgate as soon as you popped it open. These you have to assist a bit before they take over and fully lift.

Super easy to install and work great. Installation took about ten minutes. I saved some serious cash doing this myself and not the dealership/auto shop.
