Great camera for causual use
I bought this camera to replace my previous Sony camera of the same lineage, after the previous camera was dropped on its open lens and would no longer close its lens. I did not buy this camera to use in place of a higher end DSLR, and I do not expect to use it in this manner. I know the camera has limitations, but I also use it for what I believe it is for: A pocket point and shoot camera with higher quality pictures for travel and as a daily, casual camera. For this purpose, I believe this camera takes great pictures. I am still working out some of the features of the camera to adjust pictures taken at night, but I am really happy with the picture quality so far. It has a deeper zoom than my previous camera, so I can actually take closer pictures than my previous Sony camera. I also have no issues regarding the Sony software as I typically take my SD card out and stick it in a card reader. I did test out the wired cable, and while it did install drivers, I actually just accessed my pictures as if it were a USB drive. The camera itself is a little on the gentle side, but I generally keep my camera in a padded leather travel case when not in use, as I have owned higher end cameras and I am well aware of fragility of all cameras and the hardware inside. Updates from the previous model: Most of the features have been combined into the selection dial, which is also a button. The screen is a little bigger. It has a wider zoom. Some of the digital enhancement features offer better stabilization. Regarding some of the issues with night pictures - it seems the camera takes better pictures and uses its own digital aperture sensor to balance the surrounding light in the area to take a better picture. While I haven't had a chance to really play with night pictures, I was able to take some decent pictures of buildings with neon signs, and I only had issues with two of my night time pictures. I have uploaded some pictures with this review - the day light pictures were taken through a window. The evening pictures were taken after 10:00 pm, and the lighting involved is neon, sulfur street lights, and other business lighting. Please note I took the pictures to exclusively test the camera out of the box. Alright, having had some more time to fiddle with the camera, they have completely updated the digital apertures into a user friendly picture menu located under the "SCN" menu and a few more night shot options are otherwise in the rest of the aperture menu. I was actually able to take some pretty nice night and low light shots, though this camera is intended to be a simple point-n-shoot. I did not need an additional manual, and the aperture menu was easy to navigate, just push the button in the dial and move the dial up or down to find what one needs to use.

If I'd known of this camera "shadowing" problem I would NOT have purchased this camera! A costly regret!
Sony DSCWX220/B 18.2 MP Digital Camera with 2.7-Inch LCD (Black) Definitely not worth the price I paid for it which was $178 in July '16 (& now I see it's actually more! what?!), when Sony itself says the price of this camera is actually $84!! This camera is not very sturdily made, it's too small/compact even for my smaller fingers, & the placement of the buttons needs improvement -mainly the movie REC button, which is too often accidentally pushed on while simply trying to hold the camera. I purchased it because my old Sony Cybershot's flash stopped working & this camera had comparable functions/capabilities & seemed like a decent camera (though my old Sony camera was a little bigger, made of metal, more durable, had a better set up to it). Yes, this Sony has a variety of functions & it takes good photographs EXCEPT for the ongoing issue it has when I take photographs, mainly when using the flash (both flash functions), there's a shadow/ing in the lower left corner!(which can vary in the size & density with each use) Around 3 months after I purchased this camera I began noticing a slight shadow on the screen & on my photographs, more often when I utilized the flash. (And yes, I tried different settings, made sure firmware up to date, reset it, etc!) I use it more often without the flash than with, but this shadowing problem gradually began to worsen in size & density (sometimes it wasn't as bad & sometimes it was quite bad & sometimes the shadowing also appeared in the upper left corner). I've never used the camera except in my home & handled it with care, so I thought perhaps something had been loosened when it had been shipped to me since Amazon did not pack it securely. Several months in I finally called Sony because this shadowing problem had become very bad & it had another issue that occurred a couple of times -& camera was still under warranty. Sony instructed me to ship it to a camera repair shop (Precision Camera in CT, which they've a contract with to service all their cameras), which has a terrible record, often Not fixing peoples cameras, but Sony gave me no other choice. This camera shop had it for one day supposedly repaired & cleaned it & returned it to me -& it was NOT fixed / still had the shadow problem. Sony again instructed me to send it back to the camera shop & this happened 2 more times AND all 3 times camera repair shop did NOT repair this problem! And only then did Sony instruct me to return camera to them & they'd send me a replacement camera, the same exact mode, which they did - AND IT HAS THE SAME PROBLEM AND ON BOTH LEFT CORNERS of screen & photographs!!! (Plus this camera's access panel to the SD Card & Battery is loose too!) This continual issue/problem adversely affects using this camera / taking photographs esp. of specific things I need to photograph & I need clear quality photographs of! -So I guess I must live with many of my photographs having a shadowed corner AND hope it doesn't worsen as it did with the prior camera!! I can deal with the other things, but this issue/problem is very unacceptable! I don't have the money to buy another camera (nor could I actually afford to buy this one, as I can't even afford even to met my basic necessities, but I require a good digital camera). Two of the same exact camera with the same exact problem - there's something defective with this model of Sony camera & I wish I'd known about this before because I would NOT have purchased this over-priced & problematic camera. :( P.S. I included a couple of photographs of my two furkids to show this model of camera's "shadow/ing" defect/problem. It's not so bad now/yet BUT that's how it started out with my last Sony DSCWX220 camera that this camera is the replacement for! Also, as I said, this shadowing can varies with each use of the camera -a few photos may not be as bad then one or two are much worse/shadows more dense more sizable then goes back to not as bad...BUT this is a problem that should not be occurring at all, whatever the size & density!!!

Amazing pictures & video. Didn't even have to change any setting...just charged it up right out of the box and started taking pictures. Auto adjusts for every situation. Nature photos look like a National Geographic photo. Love it!!

Good picture quality, small size. The battery can be a bit weak at times, but if you don't use the flash, you'll be fine.
