The Action Bible Study Bible ESV: English Standard Version, Virtual Leather, Slate Gray : Devries, Catherine: desertcart.in: Books Review: This Action Bible rocks! I wish I had one growing up as all I had were words on a page! The highlights and animations by Sergio Cariello are spot on. Our 9 years old son started reading it straight away and we've been amazed by how he's getting hooked. The "virtual" leather cover looks and feels great too. He had other stuff gifted to him at Christmas but this Bible was definitely a hit! Review: Being a major fan of The Action Bible http://www.desertcart.com/Action-Bible-Doug-Mauss/dp/0781444993/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1422669394&sr=8-1&keywords=the+action+bible&pebp=1422669698834&peasin=781444993 I had been highly anticipating this release. The Action Bible is a truncated paraphrase of the bible, but every single glossy, high-quality page is solid artwork by Marvel artist Sergio Cariello -- who is a master. Its absolutely gorgeous. It is a terrific Bible for anyone over age 7 that loves the graphic novel concept. I had to buy several of these because anyone who saw my copy, wanted it! So while I knew this edition, containing the full text of the ESV, would not also be solid artwork, I was a little sad to see only 40 pages of graphic novel art in the entire Bible. There are then 8 pages of maps. The study aspect of the Bible is light in content, and context. It has little blurbs and insets throughout the Bible. They utilize conversational-style, modern language and terminology. So that was done very well, but do not expect the same level of material that you would normally find in a study Bible. The font is approx 6pt, so rather small. I don't usually have a hard time reading things, even my tiny 2x3 pocket bibles, but for some reason I do this. But I doubt the target demographic will have such issues. The text pages are thicker than onion skin and I do not find problems with ghosting. We purchased this in both the hardcover and the imitation leather. The hardback has the graphic novel design on the outside (so that is cool); the imitation leather is plain with embossed titling. The gilt on the purple version we received was silver, which looks awesome. I really like the size and feel of this bible in hand (imitation leather version). If it weren't for the small font, it would probably become one of my go-to Bibles. All in all, while I wish it had a lot more of Sergio's artwork, this a great, nice-quality Bible that I think anyone tween-level and older can enjoy.

I finally found the perfect Bible for my 10-year old nephew. I wanted to give him a special gift, and thought the Bible would be perfect. I scouted from shelves of bookstores but the ones therein didnt really fit on what I was looking for. So then I decided to look for it online, focusing on the considerations I have in mind: • ESV bible version (easy to understand but true to the original language) • a study bible for preteen • has a couple of illustrations to help him picture out and engage into the context of the word • has points of insight to help him contemplate/meditate on God's word Then i found this! This Bible fits perfectly for the considerations I have in mind. The study tools to include the following does not only catch attention but sparks interest in learning more on the word of God and knowing God: -What About This? Gain insights to tough questions about faith -Unlock It! Who did what, when, and where – and why it matters -Guess It! Person, place, or thing: take the challenge with 5 clues -Activate Reflect on Bible themes and how they apply now -Ancient Archives Discover the cultural history of ancient times: what were weapons, food, clothes, houses, celebrations and traditions like? -Experience the Drama Comic book artist Sergio Cariello’s dramatic illustrations captures the imagination and transports you to another time. I think these tools are very helpful in growing their faith in God. Im an adult but I got so excited for this too. (I love the Ancient Archives and Activate tool :)) ) Upon receiving his bible, my young man hurridly flipped thru the pages and wanted to start studying the book of John. This Bible is very special and is perfect for preteens. I would highly recommend this!

Is very good for teenagers to get to know the Bible and the stories in the old testament and new testament.
