I love this book and will use many of these recipes to make my cooking exciting and delicious. I recommend this book for all ages

A great guide to making all kinds of sauces and dressings from ingredients most of us already have at home. My only tiny gripe is that most of the quanties are very large so would have to be modified for the single person. Some of these are restaurant sized. Large volume recipes
If you're looking for recipes to make 6-1/2 quarts of "Rich Sherry Sauce," or 2 quarts of "Buttermilk Salad Dressing" this is the book you've been waiting for! There's no indication of how to store such large quantities of sauces, so presumably you're hosting a banquet or running a restaurant. Mere families may find it difficult to use such quantities, or indeed scale the recipes for home use.Some of the recipes for salad dressing are more normal (1 cup, 2 cup) portions that might work for average households.

Need a sauce? Look no further!
I am awed at the different types of sauces available in this book. I'm not kidding. It took me over 2 hours to just thumb through it. This covers everything from the very basic sauces, like White Sauce, for which it gives many variations, up to, and including, tomato sauces, dessert sauces,salad dressings,cheese sauces. Those are just a few of the Chapters I remember off the top of my head. It's full of suggestions on what to use many the many sauces. Really can't praise this book enough. Would recommend it to everyone. You can't go wrong with this gem of a book.

Hmmm!!
Sorry, the book seems to be beneficial. To be perfectly honest, if my son didn't have the bad allergies and I liked spicy, it would liven my kitchen. It was a good read, that makes me wonder if I could eliminate some ingredients and still be successful.

Wonderful!
Recipes include gravies and salad dressings and come from all over the map, especially a U.S. map. They sound like they truly are the best sauce recipes ever. Most are sized for a family, but there are several that would be enough for a large dinner party. My local grocery store has all the ingredients listed. There is even a recipe for making your own pizza sauce. This is just what my husband and I need, just as state in the book title, to jazz up our meals.

Great recipes
Some really great recipes are included in this book, along with some contextual information about how to properly serve them. Now I just need to figure out how to modify some of these for canning and other types of long term preservation.

Not as good as I hoped
This book contains a large number of sauce, but no pictures. I found the book to be impractical for me because recipes call for very large amount of sauce in each recipe. Maybe they are based on old recipes when the families were much larger. One or two that I tried I had to work on adjusting quantities and maybe that explains because I did not think they came out as good as I hoped.Ali Julia review

Go on, have a crack at this one. I dare you !
Quite a good book. Some of the recipes, which appear to be American going by the odd strange ingredients here and there, are more difficult than others, but most could probably be made by even the least competent cook. Worth having a go at, just for the wide range of sauces, gravies, and even a vast range of butters of all types. Measures are all in American. I'll leave you to work out what 1 and1/8 of a cup looks like. Well worth having if only to give it a try now and then, as a challenge. I'm a useless cook, but some of the things I've knocked up from this book have been well received by the tribe, even if they hadn't a clue what it was that they were eating. !

Packed full of good recipes
The mayonnaise was great. Will definitely be trying the comeback sauce this week and there are enough salad dressings to keep me going for years. Fun fact of the day: mayonnaise: made with oil, hollandaise: made with butter

Choice, choice choice
Have tried a couple of the, and went down well. Lots of choice to try in the future, pleased I got this.
