How is the read and/or write speed?

Using Teracopy, I see about 13MB write and 57MB read. That is on a Thinkpad I7 running Windows 7 64.

If the cap is off it the flash drive still water resistant?

I can only tell you that the company says it is water resistant with the cap.on. And I like my Gorilla drives so I am not going to test it. I don't use mine around water so it isn't something I am worried about. Sorry, not much help.

Is it compatible with an Xbox One

I can't imagine why you would want to use a ruggedized thumb drive with a console. If you plan on using it as actual hard drive space, I believe you would have to buy the 256 gig version. That is the smallest capacity drive an Xbox will utilize. And for $46, you could probably find a 1 TB external drive that would have a lot more space.

Does the cap stay on tightly and is the thumb drive an overall good and sturdy build?

Yes, the cap stays on very tightly. I bought extra caps, and I don't think that I'll ever need to use them. The thumb drive itself is also very sturdy and durable. No sharp edges; so if its in your pocket, it doesn't dig into you. I highly recommend this device.
