For the initial charge, out of the box, should the switch be on or off?

I just took them outta the box turned switch on and mounted them it was morning so they got to charge all day before they started there flashing but this is a good product love them worked all last summer and all through the winter in northern Mn even in -40 degree temps still flashing strong in the morning when I go to work. And these are still working ausome this spring I’m impressed

The light flashing only or it’s possible to have always steady ?

Only user control is exposing the unit to sunlight. It has no user accessable switches. Its only programmed function is a flashing mode during darkness and off during daylight which also charges its battery.

Can I buy a #43397-11687 Red strobe and put the lens from one of your green strobes on it? I need the switch

No, you can't. The diameter of the lens and strobes won't match.

Has anyone used this to deter geese?

Nope won’t deter them the Canadian Air Force will land right next to them and be happy I hunt geese right next to these sit on a lawn chair in my dog kennel in the morning drinking coffee in the morning in my work cloths and shoot um during hunting season
