Reliable way to check your bore.
Used these to check the bore of my block. Works as intended. Learn how these work and how to read them prior to buying it for best results. I used it verify the bore was straight during a rebuild, and it was accurate enough for me to verify I could skip going to the machine shop to have the holes honed. Comes in a nice hard case. Lives in my toolbox now. Excellent value for what you get. Would buy again.

Use this along with a good outside micrometer.
This was simple to use and there are plenty of videos online to give you the basics. Be careful to keep track of the small spacers. Take your time accurately setting zero for the cylinder specifications of the cylinders you are measuring and then this tool can quickly be move around to different positions in the cylinders. You need an accurate outside micrometer to set the dial to zero. A simple inside micrometer can be use to measure cylinders but this is easier and faster. I used the bore gauge an inside micrometer an outside micrometer and a digital caliper against each other. For the cost this tool is accurate has a decent case and will do the job. I use it to make decisions prior to committing to have machine work performed on cylinder blocks not as a replacement for measurements and inspection taken at the machine shop.

Fantastic
Worked great and accurate to help my size up my cylinders and helped me realized that they definitely needed and overbore. Was definitely worth the money.

Work well with polishing
Pretty inexpensive so I wasnโt expecting much. Out of the box it doesnโt operate smoothly. If you break it down and polish the linkages itโll work flawlessly.

Good quality for the price.
Used it to check bore sizing on engine blocks for rebuilds. Checked against my micrometers it was pretty consistent and accurate.

Did not work out of the box, had to do a little repair work to make it work
I needed a bore gauge to measure the bores of an engine that had one cylinder that someone went to town on with a hone. Needed to compare how bad it was to the others. Despite the reviews I ordered this and upon arrival, I could not for the life of me get the thing to calibrate to the measurement I needed with my micrometer. I would get it to give me three good readings in a row using the mic and then it would either go too high, or too low and it was not consistent. I also noticed how hard it was to push the bottom pin that does the measuring, in, and it would not release without pushing the button on the top of the dial gauge (you'll know what I'm talking about if you've ever used a bore gauge before). I felt defeated and was about to give up. I looked the gauge over and saw their dire warning to not disassemble the unit. I figured what difference does it make, it is inop and I'll just return it anyway since it does not work. I took it apart and the construction is quite simple. However, upon disassembly, a spring that is supposed to go on the shaft inside was not installed on the correct part of the shaft! There is a perch for the spring to sit on and compress inside the tool, and whoever assembled it put it on the wrong end of the shaft where the spring did nothing. So, I added grease to the shaft where it goes through the bushing inside the tool, put the spring on correctly, put it back together and then BAM, wouldn't you know it but I had dead accurate calibration after that, repeatedly. It now works, and I do not need to return it but, should I really need to go through all that?

Easy and consistent
Find this to be very useful. Works well for my limited used checking behind the machine shop. Already saved me from improperly sized rods after ARP rod bolt replacement.

Terrible quality, returning the item
The bore gauge contact point sticks and will not move without being pushed back by the indicator. Completely unfit for purpose. Do yourself a favor and buy a higher end one. This one is completely unusable.

Bore guage
Needed to rebuild lower section to get the moving anvil to free up. Case needs to be heavier so it doesnt flip over backwards. When this happens all the anvils fall out on bench. Other than that, fast shipping and works great.
