Highway 600

Having read all the reviews I fully expected to have interference issues; whether that was going to be because of poor aerial grounding, interference from other kit in the car, living in a poor signal area, whatever. I was even resigned to the fact that I might have to buy an external aerial. I deliberately chose a 200 because it does not have Bluetooth, as I've already got lots of 'Bluetooth' bouncing around in the car. I started with the standard installation method. Watching the Youtube video on how to install is definitely a 'must' and very helpful. I appreciate each car will have different radio reception/interference issues, but I can hand on heart say this was quick, simple and easy to install. Much to my delight, everything worked perfectly - even in a bit of a Faraday cage of my garage. BTW I used the preferred connection of 'Aux in'. Some 30+ stations were detected and I haven't tried every single one of them, but on the one I especially want (Boom), sound quality is superb. There's no interference from my stand alone SatNav, Bluetoothed mobile 'phone, after-market reversing camera, or other niggles that the manufacturers and other reviewers warn about. (As for the reviewer who moaned that the mag mount aerial earth attracted bits of metal: where do they go, through a storm of metal filings ?!) Update: I have now travelled about quite a bit in my home county and found lots of signal issues. Further research, (including talking to a professional installer), suggests that an external aerial will only make a difference on the margins of a transmission area. The main problem, having checked the DAB transmitter map, is not so much poor reception as poor transmission. An external aerial can only boost so much - if the signal isn't there to be picked up, there's not much you can do about it. So, all in all, a good product for the money, but unless you are going to stay within a transmission footprint, fully expect the signal to drop out in the many dead zones between. Update, one month on: I fitted an external aerial after the first few days and it did make a difference. My above comments still stand, but my conclusion is I'm glad I bought the DAB adaptor. It picks up the strong transmission stations all the time; the weaker ones drop out occasionally, but the external aerial definitely minimises that.

Delighted with this purchase. I love my car but I don't love that it wasn't blessed with dab radio, during a recent trip to the coast I was left all week with barely any radio as the FM signal was so poor. The vauxhall Bluetooth calling feature is also awful and can rarely understand what I'm asking it to do. So this item was bought to not only play digital music but to also make calling easier . Firstly the pure highway 600 is easy to install. I watched a YouTube video rather than read the instructions as I found this easy to follow. The cables all tucked away neatly under the trim along the roof and down the door seals and under the carpet. My car does have an aux inlet but in the end I set mine up via the cars FM frequency as for whatever reason it just seemed to sound better that way . The setting up of the console was straightforward and the unit quickly found 97 digital radio stations. I am now able to listen to my favourites - Absolute, virgin , radio x etc . The only slight installation problem I had was that the sticky pad on the back of the unit stand wasn't sticky enough to stick to my dashboard. I got around this by using some contact glue I already had in the house . I downloaded the pure app onto my phone and it now gives me the option of playing music via my Spotify account. Even better I can now ask my phone, via Google to make phone calls or play songs for me- no more arguing with the vauxhall voice recognition system which can't understand my northern accent . The only slight change I'd like to see to this item is for the on screen display to remain on while in use rather than fade off as soon as you've selected your station, but I suppose this is to lengthen the life of the batteries . All in all a great item, well designed and works as it should, giving you many more music options for your car . Highly recommended if your car is an old school FM radio only . For the offer price it's especially good .

The Pure Highway 600 DAB Radio is a small and very light unit. This makes it easy to find a place to put it on the supplied backing plate. The sticky back to the base plate doesn't move once applied, so make sure you have chosen the exact position before sticking it on. Take care when attaching the main unit to the bracket. It feels quite flimsy. Fitting the antennae to the windscreen is simple if you follow the instructions. One TIP: Plug in the microphone before you stick the antennae system box to the window. The plug has a lug on one side and is a very tight fit. It is almost impossible to plug it in once the main unit is stuck to the windscreen. In operation, the menu system is limited and simple but dumps you back to the main screen once you have made a change. You then have to scroll through the menu each time to make further changes. That's a bit long winded. Auto searching for stations is effective and it picked up more stations than my DAB radio in my house, which is attached to an external aerial on the roof. Not bad! I have since discovered that this unit is DAB+. The DAB+ standard has been the european standard from the outset. The UK decided only on DAB originally, but has since adopted the DAB+ standard. Any radios built before 2014 cannot be converted. So this little unit is bang up to date. Sound quality through the AUX connection on my car radio is CD quality and the signal is consistently good whilst driving. There are occasional dropouts, but none that disrupt listening for any length of time. The display has no option for "always on" which is annoying when driving at night. However, pushing any button will bring it to life. It would be nice to have the station and track displayed though. Ironically, the station is displayed on your car radio if you use the FM transmit option, but not if you use AUX. You just get AUX showing on the radio display. As the unit runs on two AA batteries which, I'm told, last for about one year, the battery remaining graphic is quite useful. Or at least I thought that's what it was. However I have since found out that it is the remaining battery on your mobile phone, if that is connected. I would have liked an option to attach a 12v power supply to the display. Should you have a SPotify account, you can log in on the Highway 600 and play (via your mobile phone) any of your playlists on Spotify. The one feature I do like though, is being able to listen to a radio station, and press GO during a track you really like for it to dsave tracks to a PURE playlist on Spotify. I have created quite an extensive Jazz playlist of tracks that I would otherwise not have heard. Most of the negative points I have mentioned are annoyances rather than deal breakers. Overall, this is a nice compact unit, and a good buy. I use it all the time.

Got this yesterday and installed it with no problems, instructions are easy to follow and give you good ideas where to route cables etc. ( I'VE FITTED IT TO 05 YARIS) Once all installed I connected it via FM Transmitter(As I've not got an Aux cable fitted yet), sound quality is brilliant and both the DAB and Bluetooth functions work really well. I've not tried Spotify yet but am sure as the other are so easy to use and navigate this will be good to. Sound quality whilst using the phone is also really good and I've had no complaints whole I've rang people whilst using it. The unit itself is small but in a good way and the screen is viable in all lights. Buttons feel good and it's good and easy to use. The only slight niggles I have with it are literally for some reason if I plug in or disconnect my phone for charging it cuts off the DAB aerial and it has to reconnect. it's into double adapter in the cigarette lighter with phone cable and pure antenna power cable). And it is silent till it does connect again. Lastly the mount for the pure 600 units sticky pad is rubbish and I've used 3m tape instead and also with the mount it's. Hard to pull the. Display off and I'm worried I may break it. Hopefully this will become easier with time. Over all I'd give it a good solid 99.9 out of a hundred, Anyone wanting any or all of the features of the highway 600 should 100% purchase one of these you want regret it.

I have a Vauxhall Astra 2013 Sports Tourer and my main issue with it is the lack of DAB Digital Radio and Bluetooth. As many owners know, the audio console in an Astra is nigh on impossible to upgrade or replace without running into serious financial waters so I set about looking for an easier and cheaper option. After a thorough product search and watching countless YouTube reviews of various different models, I settled on the PURE Highway 600 and I couldn’t be happier. This company have a long standing in DAB Radio production so I was fairly comfortable opting for this, and now having it up and running I can see why people rate them so highly. The design is excellent. Everything you need to get it up and running is in the box accompanied by easy to follow instructions. There is also an official PURE YouTube video showing you step by step instructions on fitting which is great, as well as other videos made by customers which have some helpful tips on installation. It works extremely well. I live in a rural location where phone reception can be dodgy but as soon as I powered it up it found 75 stations in seconds. The signal strength is almost at max and the sound quality is fantastic, so much better than the FM on the car stereo. I am using the Aux jack to connect to the receiver which is working great. You can also connect via FM which apparently isn’t as good but still ok. I haven’t tried it so can’t comment. Hands free calling is crystal clear so no problem there. The wireless controller is easy to use and although it’s not the most dynamic display, it does all you need it to do. There is a PURE phone app which accompanies the product that has plenty of helpful info on it and guides you through some set up instructions, really great. My receiver needed a software update which sounds daunting but was actually pretty straight forward. I just downloaded the update to my laptop then brought it to the car and connected it up. Follow the onscreen instructions and sorted, really straightforward. Really cool connectivity to Spotify Premium means you can push a button when you hear a song you like and it saves it to a playlist for you, nice touch. All in all, a great product that delivers and is easy to install and use. Designed and manufactured in the UK too and by all accounts their customer service is excellent. Even if you have the most basic fitting ability then don’t be put off, it’s really straightforward to fit, just take your time. Some places are charging £150 for this plus fitting costs on top so this price is a bargain for such a great product.

I got this radio to override my Toyota Prius FM radio as in the UK most channels have now gone digital and I could not get most stations anymore. The installation is quite simple and straightforward. The communication between the controller unit and the antenna (applied to the windshield) happens wirelessly and the AUX/power cables are combined and can be hidden along the path without any modification or professional installation. The controller unit is powered by 2 AAA batteries and charge should apparently last a year... yet to test this. The sound quality where cover is good is excellent, it can falter a bit where the signal is not too strong, and that can be true for local radios when travelling across the country or between countries as I did on a long drive to Italy. The stations will not update automatically, but it is very easy to do with just 3 taps on the controls... and the radio autotunes in 15-20 seconds. It would be nice if, given that it already connects to a phone, it had geographical awareness and it were able to update the stations automatically. The interface is my only gripe with this, it is not super quick to change stations and it is not easy being the driver, as there is no 1 click next station button, that works only for saved stations, all the others one has to rotate and push the dial... which is not easy to do without looking at the display as it can be fiddly. One star lost because of this. Also the buttons on the side catch and can lift and I am afraid I could end up snapping them off. The screen goes off very quickly after selecting a station, which is good for driving at night and reduced distractions, but it also means that to check the station you will fiddle with it more. The second star is lost because the unit is not compatible with the app unless one does an antenna update... which is only possible with a Windows PC or an android phone... either of which I do not have and especially the PC I would struggle to have connected while in the car. Because of this the Spotify and bluetooth functions that operate via the phone simply do not work. A real shame as I was hoping to listen to my music while driving and also tag music that I listened to on the radio... but alas it proved impossible without the aforementioned update. I believe this is a great radio, easily 4 stars if they sorted the update and allowed iOS or Macs to update the firmware and 5 stars if an option to scan stations without using the dial were available... maybe even voice controlled via the phone app (one can dream these days ;-) ) At this price though, a radio with PURE quality, I believe it is a no-brainer. I would though avoid the 200 version because in it the controller does not connect wirelessly to the antenna, but would be curious to try the simpler controls. I skipped the 600 version as I already have a hands-free phone in the car, but really the prices have fallen so much that I would recommend either.

My wife's car is a Mazda with a basic fitted radio. Not wanting to mess about with it too much, I thought I'd try a DAB device to upgrade it a bit. After reading the reviews, I plumped for the Pure Highway 200. I'm so glad I did. It's excellent. Firstly, the packaging is way better then expected and it contains everything needed to get the unit set up and working. I had it fitted in about 20mins including routing the cables for the unit and the supplied aerial. The instruction booklet in multi-languages is clear and concise and very easy to follow. I had to use the FM channel for playing, as the car radio doesn't have an audio in socket. This doesn't seem to detract from the sound quality though and it came through crisp and clear after it did it's initial scan for stations. The aerial seems to do a good job and I have a large selection of digital stations to choose from, with great reception (in my area at least) on all of them. This is the basic version of the DAB unit and doesn't include hands free phone capability, but for the cost I really wasn't bothered about it. We now have DAB radio in the old Mazda and both my wife and I are very pleased with it.

I'd say this is one of the better aftermarket DABs out there, if not one of the best, but it could have been so much better. Glad I bought it on offer at £80, paying full price at £160+ I would have been very disappointed. After a few weeks of testing/running here's my overview below of the 600 with hands-free: PROs: - separate transmission and control unit, this probably contributes to lower interference which is a good design and also gives the most tidy install of any i've seen. - dual usb output on the lighter power cord - very good signal quality at least where I've been driving (west section of M25) - control unit is relatively small and looks smart, wireless (takes 2 aaa batteries), good touch/feel of buttons - light sensor on lcd display, plus lcd performs well in bright direct sunlight - displays radio station on car radio if using FM transmission - good simple controls with jog dial (rubberised) - best mount system i've seen - very firm ball joint, almost no movement of the unit when pressing buttons, has a flexible mounting pad/base to mould to surface of the dashboard which I've never seen before but a great touch. I opted not to use the mount and instead used velcro to attach to a more convenient and unobtrusive location on dash. - excellent call quality inbound and outbound - long cable for power and aux connect - signal quality display if needed (helpful for adjustments to aerial etc) - good after care from Pure - very responsive when my 'hang call' button was sticking from new. Could have shipped back for replacement but some DIY sanding between button and screen removed a fraction of plastic which was catching. Now all good. - firmware / software update process very simple from the app - the magnetic grounding strap is a must, ensure carefully fitted and placed under roof lining to get best reception CONs: - sound quality overall gives very muddy bass even when at 100% signal (maybe i'm being picky), could be due to FM transmission mode - I haven't tried aux in as doesn't reach my head unit. For streaming from phone the unit uses the standard bluetooth SBC codec which is unfortunately inferior to newer aptx. PURE can you firmware update if hardware supports? Similarly the quality loss is noticable, esp in the lower frequencies which sound awful. - Pure Go App useless except for firmware updating. Support seems to have ended - affected by dashcam - as are many DABs from what I've researched. Ferrite chokes have saved me here and reduced interference from the rear camera cable of my Thinkware F770. TIP: ensure the rear cam cable is not looped anywhere in the car as this will add to FM and DAB interference as I found. - LCD display is unbelievably basic - looks like its from the 1980s, for a 2016-17 product this is nuts. Only 2 lines of info i.e. song and artist, or current station and next station. Could be due to wanting to maximise battery life but still disappointing - i'd take a battery hit for a better screen. - Shame it only streams DAB station title to car head unit, would have been nice to have scrolling info or artist etc which I've seen done through RDS. On streaming MP3 from your phone it will only display 'Highway' which again is a shame and could have been much better. Overall I'd still choose this over the many China DAB adapters out there. Many have the features which the Pure 600 is missing/lacking, but for me clear phone call quality and DAB reception are a must so this wins hands down. Plus UK based aftercare and 3 yr warranty make it a plus.

Facile à installer, j'ai tout de même apporté une modification à l'émetteur/alimentation. Je m'explique, avec l'antenne fournie d'origine, je ne recevais que 26 stations DAB/DAB+. J'ai donc installé une antenne externe dédiée pour la bande III VHF et soigneusement démonté le boitier, pour y souder l'âme et la masse de l'antenne en respectant l'impédance de 50 ohms de mon antenne. Vu qu'il n'y a pas de connecteur dédié, je n'avais pas d'autres choix sachant que je perdais la garantie d'office (aucune importance...). Le tout, avec le plus grand soin, je réceptionne dorénavant 40 stations avec un bien meilleur signal sans aucune coupure sur de longue distance contrairement à celle fournie. Pour ce qui est de l'utilisation Bluetooth, j'apprécie que le lecteur de musique de mon smartphone se mette en marche automatiquement avec le titre des chansons. En soi, un très bon produit, sauf le regrettable connecteur d'antenne externe absent, qui m'a obligé à souder la mienne.

Unit works very well, and I was impressed with the comprehensive installation instructions. From antenna install to routing wires to connecting to head unit, it was all quite straightforward. I installed this on a 2013 Nissan Juke (on aux input) and it works like a charm.

Buena recepción y calidad,pero mi coche no tiene entrada de auxiliar y he de vincularlo mediante transmisión fm,Valencia (España) tiene la fm saturada,y este apartó emite con muy poca potencia, entonces lo escucho con alguna interferencia que otra,supongo que si tuviese entrada de auxiliar se escucharía perfecto.

Installazione facile e veloce. Nessun cavo resta visibile nell abitacolo. Non perde il canale per strada nonostante si percorrono tanti km. Qualche volte in città si perde ma è dovuta comunque alle abitazioni e palazzi che interferiscono con il segnale. Lo consiglio

This was installed in an excavator that has a number of satellite/cellular systems and works perfectly with no interference. The install was easy and I was up and running in about 10 minutes. The controller is very basic but does the job. Unfortunately the controller doesn't show the full background info that is broadcast such as song, artist etc. Although quite expensive for what it is I would buy again.
