Works as advertised, but wish it was more sturdy.
I waited to experience 15 months of use with it before passing judgement. It was fairly easy to install and works as advertised. However, I've dealt with two part failures in the last couple months. First, the motor unit slides on a track that is fixed to the wall above the opening, and there is a tab that holds the motor unit at the desired height. That tab broke off. I've had to rig a screw stop the motor unit from sliding down and off the track.Second, the thin twine that spools to lift the door has also broken off. No spares included and fairly difficult to address. So, the design is fine but I almost wish the metal door was made of lighter plastic and the plastic and twine working unit was metal.

This works good, but the instructions are not very easy to understand.
I have had this setup and working for a few weeks and it is working good. I live in Montana and the winters are cold and I am not having any issues with the door opening and closing on time. The setup and install is pretty straight forward except for the timer. I have used the timer for lights in the past and you have to set it different. For this door to work you need to only set two tabs on the timer. I have one tab set at 6:30 AM and one tab at 9:30 PM and it works great. DON'T set all the tabs between 6:30 and 9:30 it won't work correctly. That is the only issue I had with the setup, if you only set one tab for when you want it to open and one tab for when you want it to close, everything should work great for you.One more update after using it for a lot longer. I haven't had any issues with this chicken door after the initial setup. I live in Montana and I have seen the outside temps get to -40 F and the inside of our barn is heated to 40 F. I was worried about the metal door freezing shut in the winter with the frost but I haven't had any issues. In the cold nights I can see thick frost on the outside of the door but the door continues to open and close just fine.

I had written an earlier review and can’t seem to find it to be able to edit it.I had issues with the appearance was not as seen in the photo—to me it looks brown and chic. The reality is it’s steel, so silver.* The company emailed me an apology after I sent them a picture and they will work on the listed picture. The directions left something to be desired as well, not only with confusion, but with grams and mechanics as well.* Again I chatted with a rep from the company via email and they will be working on this for future orders, so after this date you should see improvement. There was a big issue with the door size...it comes with a 12x12” door, but directions say to cut it 1” above the floor board, so there’s overlap with the wall, so predators cant lift it from the outside—that’s great! But the directions also said to cut a 12x12” hole, that causes a problem because you’re now one inch short at the top of the door because of the one inch needed below the door.* Again this was addressed by email and they should be changing the door size to 12x14” high, to cover that whole space. As for ease of putting it in. I did have some confusion, but was able to muddle through it fairly easily. Read ALL the Cutting and installation directions BEFORE doing anything! I’m very familiar with using tools and following directions, but this still took me a bit to do. I would say from start to finished installation of the door was about an hour after a little problem solving with the “short” door. And a little bit of hubby’s help with said problem solving. So not bad for a cooo/run door.I will suggest that if you’re able place the door near the outlet (you need electrical for the timer) or make sure you e got an extension cord and curved nails to keep it in place. The cord given for the time is about 3-4 feet.Overall, for the money of this coop door compared to the price of the others I can’t and won’t complain. I saved about $100 versus the other ones. So the value is good. And their customer service I’m impressed with, through the emails the representative offered to fix the issues and was very helpful.I would still recommend this product.

It would have received 5 stars if the lift motor assembly was a bit more durable.
The installation was very easy, and as long as you have both side tracks on the vertical, it will track just fine (it wants to bind a bit during the first few times it lowers, but that works itself out). The variance for getting the tracks in the proper place allows for a lot of flexibility depending upon your door width. Some would say the main parts are the door plate and the tracks, but with them being metal I'd suggest the main component is the motor, as the door and track are not likely to fail. This is its weak spot, and while it has not happened, I fully expect the lifting motor to give way first. It is housed in a cheap plastic housing, and the winder mechanism is plastic along with the gears. Fortunately when it does fail there are motors out there you can buy as stand alone devices. There is also a whole lot of free play in the lift mechanism due to the distance between the two switches that control the action of the take up wheel. This means that you can only set the lifting string to be tight with the door at rest if you use a an artificial stop, otherwise the lift and lower will move the door lower when it activates prior to lifting the door. I have a grabber screw an inch lower than my chicken door to get the same positive stop each time.Without the speculation of pending failure of the lift motor, it is working well, and as such I would recommend purchasing it, especially in light of the price and comparison to other chicken doors.
