Budapest is not a very exciting city. Architecturally, it strives to be similar to Vienna, but is way below it in upkeep and character. It's history has too many bad pages: anti-semitism on state level- before and during the war and all the way to our days! Just look at their hipocritic monument to "victims of Fashism" erected despite all the protests of Jewish population! Jews were the only victims and Hungarians killed them way before the Germans came. Hitler was welcome to Hungary? He only came there in 1944 and stayed several months before being kicked out In those several months a record number of Jews were deported and killed. No other victims. Current government is trying to re-write their shameful barbarian history. The only interesting building is a fairly new Parliament. All the old "palaces"are in awfull run down condition. Good food though:-)

It's a very quick read, so I guess if you suddenly find yourself heading to Budapest and only have two hours before you arrive, this book is better than nothing. It mentions some good sites but don't expect a ton of detail.

I will only have 2-3 days in Budapest and wanted a quick overview. The only advantage to this book is that it is cheap. There are no maps to provide even an overview of where things are in relation to each other. It is so poorly written that the sentences are distracting - obviously a bad translation of a jumble of source materials. If you are amused by such things, you'll be able to chuckle at passages such as: "[District 8] has dramatically changed its defiled scenery, with art spaces and breezy cafes wadding a neighborhood loaded down with faded charm. Though this neighborhood isn't as popular as Gellert Hill and Castle Hill, it's a burgeoning tourist zone overflowing with eyeful sights."

Who do they get to write these things....written for a sixth grader! Lots of filler "stupid" adjectived; some just juvenile. Here's an example of the so-called writing: "Budapest, like the rest of Hungary, has four seasons, namely winter, autumn, and spring." Hello! Are there more seasons we travelers don't know about? This not only was terribly written, aren't there editors? I trust the other guides are better, but I doubt it. Do we really need to buy this to have some inept writer say, "....first you need to get some nourishment by eating breakfast at your hotel or hostel." Don't waste your money!!!

This is an excellent travel guide on Budapest. Starts off with an introduction to the the history and culture of this city, continues on to highlight the "must see" attractions, list of hotels, cuisine, entertainment and so much more. I was really impressed at how well organized the 3 Day Guide to Budapest is - it is more than just a listing of places and things, it is facts and details gift wrapped in the form story telling. Enchanting.

Only have 3 days in Budapest? Save yourself the guesswork and buy this book! This book covers everything you could possible do in 72 hours while in Hungary. When to go, where to stay, what to eat, what to see, and much, much more! Traveling can be a daunting stressful experience if you don't know what to do and are on a limited time schedule. This book lets you relieve stress by planning it all out for you. Highly recommended!
