Does the job.
Reasonable price. Device works as advertised. I used it on two 3.5" drives and a 2"; all were accessible.

Worked great with a 2.5 SSD drive and an older 3.5 SATA drive!

Speedy performance, short cable
Purchased one years ago, but just recently needed to use it for the very first time. Turns out it was defective and would not be recognized by any computer. On a whim I decided to email BENFEI support, and to my surprise, they offered to send me a replacement free of charge even though it was long out of warranty. The new unit works perfectly and transfer speeds are fast over USB 3.0. Plus the convertible Type-A/Type-C USB plug is a nice touch. The only gripe I have is that the current version's cable length is now much shorter compared to the older version. It's fine for connecting a drive to a laptop with everything right next to each other and lying flat on a table top, but awkwardly too short for connecting to a desktop USB port.If not for the inconvenient cable length, I'd rate it 5-stars for performance and exceptional customer service. So unfortunately for me, that drops it to 4-stars.

Worked very well with 13 years old Hard drive.
Was skeptic if this would work for a hard drive from my burned and wet laptop from 13 years back. Turned out it worked great. Was able to access all the data and memories which I thought was lost. Worth it!

Works
I've had many backup, external and internal storage devices over the years. I gets easier every years with new devices. I try to use 'solid state' drives now, I just use this little buddy to connect my SSD to my computer thru a USB port. No fuss or muss.

DOES NOT WORK
What I received looked like a "return" it was opened and the box looked overhandled, worn out, and the item was stuffed in the box tangled in its own wire, so I probably got a dud (returned). That doesn't mean a new one won't work, but the quality of this item seems subpar at best. The one shipped to me corrupted some files on my SATA HDD by providing less than enough power to spin the drive properly... I tried to eject the drive but it was unsuccessful. At this point in time I only use SSD's for both internal and external on all my PC builds, this one HDD was a 3.5 SATA, used as secondary slave drive/storage (internal) in my living room PC, ..My drive was perfectly fine and nothing was corrupt in it; that was until I used this device!I mostly use StarTech products for things like these adapters... but thought this one seemed ok. Many people seem to agree that after a few months, it dies or it stops working, I should've read further into the reviews.Anyway, I wanted to transfer some of that data to my new PC without having to transfer it twice, the HDD is connected to a good computer, so there was no issue with it --IT'S THE DEVICE THAT DOESN'T WORK!..... big mistake, I wish I never used it. This broken device I ordered did something to my HDD DATA, it underpowered the drive, and it didn't eject properly as "safely remove hardware" no matter what I'd do.The drive would show on "This PC" as letter E:\ but it remains and counts as an (ABRUPT DISCONNECT) while it was still spinning. When I first connected it, the drive shows up after like a whole minute, so it took a while to show up, when I plug in any USB drive to my PC, it reads and shows up instantly, maybe 3 or 4 seconds max...The worst part was that any folder you clicked on, the data wouldn't transfer or couldn't be seen or used, changed, renamed, or deleted... nothing,.... It's like the drive was not available. CORRUPTED SOME FILES!!!!Unacceptable. I recovered most of my data and did a disk scan to scan for bad sectors etc.. Then used MiniTool "PAID VERSION" Data Recovery Software, found every file... SO.....First things first, VENDORS SHOULD NOT ASSUME A RETURN IS OK TO SHIP TO THE NEXT CUSTOMER. I will email these people as well.
