Excellent replacemen

When it came time for getting my wife a replacement buffing pad I went with one I was familiar with. It might not be the single cheapest, but it is very reasonably priced. And having used them I knew it would work well for her finishing of her '65 Mustang restoration. She had been using high-end stuff, but it wasn't hers and when it came time for having her own I told her it was silly to pay three times as much. So when I saw what she was considering I asked to just give the Makita a try, and if she didn't like it I would use it and she could pay a lot more. I think she finished last night and said it worked great. There are a lot of these on the market and maybe they all work fine. I just wanted her to try a product I know works, and it has for her as well. I think the combination of the two is very decently priced.

I use the 743052-5 hook and loop backup with my Makita 9227C sander / Polisher to to clean and polish the limestone travertine floors in my home in Granite Bay as well as the marble floors and shower walls in my Hawaii condo. I order the very inexpensive cleaning and polishing pads as well as polishing cream from Regent Stone Products through AMAZON. The online documentation at Regent Stone discusses the different pads which ones to use for different tasks. It is easy to do and saves a lot of money over having someone come in to do the work. The Makita 743052-5 hook and loop backup really works well and does a great job. However the pad itself is made of wood and it is possible to put too much pressure on the pad when cleaning or polishing a floor and breaking the wooden pad. I break a pad once every couple of years. So I always order three backups when I order pads. The fact I break a pad every couple of years is the only reason I give them 4*s instead of 5*s. Hope this helps you.

I used this to burn through something like 25 coarse sheets of sandpaper in a day and the backing never melted or lost the ability to hold onto paper. I might order another one just to have a spare. Great tool.

OEM Makita backing pad replaced the one that came with the buffer - these are plastic and the original one finally cracked from use. Great to find these - they are difficult to find locally, but quick and easy to get from Amazon. Price was several dollars cheaper as well.
