Eat Smart Eat Smart Precision Tracker Digital Bathroom Scale (ESBS-61)

Warning!! Had this scale for 3 weeks and loved its design and easy to read display. Both my husband and I were shocked today when he picked it up gently and it suddenly exploded into hundreds of pieces! He had two cuts in his hand and we are relieved nothing else was cut. If a child were to be near this scale and it happened, that would have been terrible! We are quite shocked and disappointed. The photos show the scale after I had already swept up the tiniest shards that had sprayed across the bathroom. We need a refund and a totally different model scale. Our weights are both in the low average range, so that is not a factor.

Appearance, A+ While it lasted.Performance, FSix months after purchase, "Battery Low". After replacing batteries, which should not have been the case with below average use, scale would only be showing "00".Removed batteries, waited, replaced again. Same results. After removing and replacing batteries again, Flashing excessive weight above limit, which should not have been the case.Past Amazon's return period. Recycle center is the only alternative, regrettably.

I used it side-by-side with my mechanical balance scale (like the one in Doctor's office). My scale isn't perfect, but it is consistent (i.e., given the same weight, it gives the same reading). This scale is NOT consistent. I tried several calibration cycles, on different flat surfaces, and I still experienced two things: 1) my weight with and without pajamas (which weigh 9oz, or more than 1/2 lb), was the same. And the difference between the mechanical scale and the digital scale varied by 2-3 pounds from day to day. (so 160 lb on the mechanical scale was 162 on the digital scale on Monday, but it was 163 on the digital scale on Tuesday). I contacted customer service. They said this was expected behavior. They said their scale was not expected to distinguish a 1/2 lb difference correctly, and that reading-to-reading it could vary +/- 1%. For 160 lbs that's a range of 3.2lbs. I can't see how this is useful for anyone.

3/21/21 update:I ordered the Etekcity Digital Body Weight Bathroom Scale with Step-On Technology, 400 Lb, Body Tape Measure Included to compare it to this scale. The reviews were great. Unfortunately the scale adds almost 2 lb to my body weight every time.I had a recent doctor's appointment so I took the opportunity to weigh myself on the doctor's balance scale. Then I came home and weighed my clothes and deducted that from the weight to get my exact body weight. While I was at the doctor, I left the Eatsmart scale without its batteries. When I got home, I put them back in, reset the scale, put it on a hard surface floor, and it matched exactly the weight I had off the doctor's scale minus my clothes. It's been accurate ever since. SO apparently after a few years of use, sometimes you just need to remove the batteries for awhile to let the Eatsmart scale reset.Unfortunately for Etekcity, their scale is very consistent...consistently weighing around 2 lb heavier despite trying multiple calibration/resets per their instructions. LOL So I'm returning this one (Etekcity Digital Body Weight Bathroom Scale with Step-On Technology, 400 Lb, Body Tape Measure Included) and keeping my Eatsmart which I'll probably do a long battery reset on once a year going forward.-----------------I bought this scale on 8/10/14 and back then it was excellent.Fast forward to 3/15/21 and now I can weigh myself 4 times and get 3 or 4 different weights. If I put it in different spots in the room, I weigh different amounts. Every few days, I gain 5 lb on this thing. I'm on a keto/carnivore diet. I'm not gaining weight, I'm losing it. It'll gradually drop me 5 lb over a week and then all of a sudden I gain 5 lb overnight. Impossible.The instructions say that replacing the batteries and stepping on/off and letting it rebalance is the factory reset. Well after 5 years, the factory reset no longer works so now I'm on the hunt for a scale that's accurate over the long term.

I've had this scale for well over a year and it has not exploded. It seems to me a lot of those who are having the shattering experience keep it in their bathrooms. That's probably a bad idea since the glass is exposed to various temperatures. For instance, my husband takes showers that would boil my skin off if I got in there with him LOL. The house is generally cool, 70 degrees average. So if we were to keep it in there, the glass would be constantly expanding and contracting. Luckily, we didn't have room in the bathroom so it's been kept in the kitchen where the temperature doesn't fluctuate as much. So that would be my advice, keep it in a room where the temperature stays relatively the same all the time.It is fairly accurate. About 5lbs off from my doctor's scale but I weigh myself at home in very light clothing. When I'm at the doc office, I've fully clothed, with shoes on! I'm a really heavy person (380 lbs range) and starting to lose weight. The scale has never given me an error as long as I use it properly. It has been able to withstand my weight without any problem. Just make sure you place it somewhere level (if on tiles, make sure it's not over the grout which can unbalance the scale.) Also, I've only changed batteries once and that was to test to make sure weighing issues were not due to the scale itself.

Estoy maravillado con el producto, muy buen costo-beneficio.La compré porque me interesa saber mi peso día con día. La otras básculas ofrecen calcular tu porcentaje de grasa corporal, índice de masa corporal, metabolismo en reposo etc. etc. Pero para ser sincero al menos en mi caso son datos que no ocupo. Solo necesito mi peso y ya, con una interfaz limpia y sin tener que andar buscando botones de encendido y apagado. Aquí solo me subo, se calibra y me da mi pesoEs muy exacta cuando hay gramos de diferencia y tiene un botón físico para configurar entre libras y kilogramos.Incluye 4 baterías triple AAA (necesarias para que la báscula funcione) y una cinta métrica.Iré actualizando con el paso del tiempo sobre duración de la batería y pequeños detalles

Si lo que quieres es una bascula bonita, funcional y que no estorbe mucho no busques más.Esta la compre por que está rankeada como una de las mejores, diseño sencillo y sin funciones adicionales, sólo te paras en ella y te da tu peso en un display de muy buen tamaño.La báscula se re calibra de forma autonoma, he hecho comparaciones con pesas de 2kg y la medición de peso siempre es acertada.

La he usado ya por un par de meses y estoy muy contenta. Si es MUY precisa, antes usaba una de esas que miden disque todo, agua, grasa etc, y aunque me pesara varias veces en el mismo mimuto, siemore era un peso diferente! Con esta no! Te puedes pesar y luego quitarte la ropa y pesarte otra vez y te va a marcar los gramos exactos que cambiaron, esto ayuda muchísimo si estás tratando de bajar de peso pies puedes ver tu progreso real. Muy recomendable!

Scale fluctuates by a few pounds even when weighing myself on different floors and surfaces, I tried to start a return but was unable to since the scale uses batteries to function. I think I recieved a defective unit- stepping onto the scale feels strange, like one of the "legs" is stuck while the others all move under my weight. I keep looking at the bottom but nothing is visibly noticeable. I ordered this scale to replace my previous one which was of the same brand and never had issues with that one, it just broke when I moved houses. Very disappointed, waste of money. I would recommend purchasing something else, invest a little more for better quality.
