This Pilum arrives in 2 separate sections, The Shaft itself and the steel shank attached to the pyramid shaped hand stop and must be screwed together to assemble it (like a quality billiard cue). Once assembled the threads are hidden into the recess of the hand stop and are not visible. The shaft itself measures 39 inches and the Shank attached to hand stop measures 33 inches for a total of 72 inches (6 foot) But once the shaft is attached to the Shank you loose 2 inches because of the recess in the hand stop. Ok so you loose 2 inches which makes it slightly shorter then advertised but once together it is a very sturdy and you can not tell it is 2 separate pieces, it does not wiggle or jiggle and feels very solid . The Pilum shank is well crafted and has a full tang kind of construction were the tang goes into the hand stop 5 inches and has 2 bolts with washers holding it in place. The shank also seems to be hardened steel and combined with the full tang makes it more durable. It also comes with a brass colored sharpened butt cap on the bottom of the shaft and a brass colored metal band around the top of the hand stop which gives it even more durability. So I went outside to test it, and threw it at some 3/4 inch plywood from around 20 feet away around 10 times, then turned around and stabbed it into a 4x4 around 15 times with force. The Pilum is weighted enough to throw it with force but not so heavy that it makes it hard to throw and each throw at the plywood punched through it every time and every thrust at the 4x4 sank deeply into the wood. I inspected the Pilum afterwards and No damage or bending on the shank or tip and the Pilum was still solid with no wiggles or jiggles. Anyways its a well crafted, functional, nice looking weapon. and even though it is 2 inches shorter then advertised, it preforms well enough to over look those 2 inches

The media could not be loaded. It needs work , there's a massive bow to it , im sure a little bend might be beneficial but im thinking as a collector it should have been better for the buck , it's difficult to be too upset when you see it next to the rest of my collection but I would have liked some craftsmanship ....3 stars 🌟 it does bring a smile to my face lol

The wood and finish are very nice and it arrived very well packed. The real disappointment comes from the nuts and bolts used at to attach the metal to the shaft. These are what you would expect to find in a bin at Home Depot. It kind of ruins the whole look. Why make the rest so nice, charge a premium, and put such a lackluster finishing touch on it? Had I been able to see this on in the picture on the listing I would not have purchased it.
