Total game-changer: my dog LOVES it
*** The short & sweet ***My dog can and will destroy any substance known to mankind... except possibly this crate. I only say possibly because for once in her life, she has had no urge to destroy it, and it actually feels like it could hold up to her abuse if she did try! Plus, as an added mega-bonus, she actually loves the crate.PROS:- Very sturdy/secure and well-made - I feel like this will last a (human) lifetime- Actually looks attractive in your home- Fits a standard pet bed perfectly- Spacious & comfortable - dog LOVES it- Wheels & tray are extra convenientCONS:- $$$$$- Very, very heavy- Latches are a weak point (although the included carabiners do help to mitigate this)- Can't attach standard crate bowls / water bottle*** The full story ***I unhappily purchased this crate as a replacement for the standard (but fairly thick/sturdy) wire kennel I've had for my anxious wreck of a dog for the past 10 years. However, since we moved houses, she has been EXTRA anxious and recently saw fit to destroy her old crate in a fit of lunacy. We have tried EVERYTHING to keep her contained when we aren't there with her: that crate, a 6' privacy fence outside (she chewed the metal - yes, I said metal - bars of the fence until they bent and she escaped), tethering both inside and outside (she ate the tether and then chewed through the door), muzzling so she couldn't chew her way through things (she ripped the muzzle apart), just letting her loose in an entire comfortable room to herself (she literally tore down an entire wall), plus SO many calming items (Thundershirt, sprays, treats, pheromone diffusers, chew toys, CBD oil, and the vet even put her on xanax)... absolutely nothing helped. We were beginning to think she would quite literally tear our entire house down and run away if we were ever asleep or away from home during any mildly alarming events (thunderstorm, fireworks, or even the neighbours using power tools). It was a nightmare.I bought this crate because we had to try -something- else to keep her contained. I was cranky about her having destroyed the last crate along with half my house and cranky about having to spend this much on a new one that I was sure she would shred just as surely as she shreds everything else. She HATES being ignored for even one single second and hates being contained just as much.So imagine my surprise when my dog actively volunteers to go to this crate and happily (and QUIETLY) sleeps through even thunderstorms in it! She has not made any attempt to destroy or escape it, and it actually feels sturdy enough that I think it would give even my destructomatic dog a run for her money. Colour me impressed! To our amusement, we have also discovered that she has become intimidated by live music in her old age, so if we need her to go to her crate, we strum a single chord on the ukulele or play one soothing tone on our steel drum and she goes running to it. She might not think much of our musical acumen, but we are pleased she finds the crate protective enough to run there for shelter!Assembly was pretty easy (even for me, a petite woman, to do alone), but the crate is VERY heavy and I highly recommend having someone else to assist you as the sides will clatter down loudly as you're trying to get them in place. Everything fit together perfectly and snugly. I would not want to have to move this around much due to the weight, so the wheels were a welcome surprise. I do agree with others that the latches would be the weak point on this crate, but again, even my pup who is very strong and completely bent on destroying everything within her reach has not made so much as an attempt to get out. Just in case, I attach the included carabiners if the forecast predicts a storm and I feel pretty safe that she's secured in there. All in all, I'm very happy with this purchase, even as unhappy as I am that I had to shell out the big bucks on a fancy crate. It has been well worth it for us. The cost of the crate is probably a lot less than replacing several doors, windows, and walls. My dog is much, much happier overall, which makes us happier, as well. Plus it actually looks pretty decent in my home and has netted us a few compliments! The only things I would really change would be to include crate bowls / water bottle that fit this crate, as the metal bars are too thick for our standard bowl brackets, and to offer the metal in more colours.

Escape artist-proof
I got this crate after my 55lb pit mix chewed through his 3rd wire crate on the 4th of July. My pup is terrified of fireworks and thunder and will try to escape if I’m not home. It’s been 5/6 months now and he has not been able to escape, chew or bend the bars. Hasn’t figured out how to open the latches either. Even when he is freaking out and destroying everything inside the crate, he has not been able to do any damage to the crate itself. This crate has been a life saver for both me and my dog. I considered rehoming my dog because of his escape-artist tendencies, and now I don’t have to worry and he can stay safe. Also, the crate is big enough for both of my dogs to lay down comfortably. It’s a little bit of an eyesore, but it still looks nicer than the regular wire crates, in my opinion.

Durable but too small for my little lab. Not sure about the Xtra-cost for Upgrade
This crate is very durable, secure, easy to assemble and comfortable for my dogs feet. The floor of the crate has the same flat wide bars as the ones on the side of the crate. I am uncertain if the "upgrade" is really worth $40. Are the extra nubs on the slide lock really worth that much? The extra security is completely unnecessary when you see the construction of this crate. My dog could never "push" her way out of this crate like she did with the Midwest-Style simply-hook-the-sides-together crate. My newly-adopted, very underweight, female Labrador Retriever Mix could not comfortably stand up in the 38-inch crate. She is not a huge dog but she is tall and slender. She could not hold her head up high in this crate. It looked very uncomfortable. She needed the bigger crate. The crate assembled easily but is on the heavier side. I had to return the crate and the larger-size crate would be too costly and very heavy to maneuver. I opted to exchange for another brand . . . that isn't as nice and easy to assemble as this one. It's the economics of it all along with the huge size/weight of the Smonter. You won't be disappointed in the quality.

Great cage, poor shipping
I’ll say that this crate is great, very sturdy, and like most other reviews stated my dog seems very comfortable in this crate vs the others that he destroyed. The flooring is a little too widely spaced so you have to figure out something for your dog to stand on. I used old carpet remanence and cut it down to size to fit. So far he hasn’t ripped that apart. The only down side so far was the shipping. They use minimal padding. It’s basically just sitting in a box and unfortunately it looks like someone threw my box down some stairs bc my cage was all dented up and scuffed….. for the money I spent that is VERY DISAPPOINTING. I’m hoping the company will rectify the situation.

It worked!
My dog has destroyed every crate he's been in. After the first few days, I noticed some scratches from bite marks, but nothing after that. I think he finally gave up trying to get out. This crate is expensive but was worth it for us.

A must buy!
I found the crate well constructed. Escape proof—this wasn’t the reason for my purchase, my, year old, 90 lbs yellow lab kept out growing crates. The crate was easy to put together. I did it alone—with the aid of my dining room chairs to hold the sides in place. One thing though, do not try to tighten the bottom small bolts of the side panels—this gave me a pause. They allow the side panels to move so you have no trouble getting the bolts in when you attach the top.Over all, a little heavy when I pulled it into the house. Solid when assembled (even with those lose small panel bolts on the bottom) well made, quality material, and easy directions to follow. I highly recommend a pad for the crate. The bottom rails are a little wide for most dogs feet.A must buy for when you're looking for a quality crate.

Sturdy enough for my Great Dane and DDB
They have a bed in it so it’s not hard on them. They’re toes get stuck without a bed. They’re both known escape artists, especially the DDB who’ll let the Dane out.The Dane usually goes potty in his other kennels but is very comfortable in this one.So far a great buy.

Strong crate
I like the strength - expect it to last decades. I managed to assemble it myself but would recommend having another pair of hands to hold the sides in place when assembling. The lock appears a little flimsy and requires getting used to it - it does get easier to lock and unlock once you get the knack. Not sure why they couldn’t design with a traditional bolt - perhaps it is to make it difficult for an energetic dog to unlock. My dog a border collie has scraped some of the paint off the door with his teeth. All in All however I would recommend owing to its strength. It does look good as well although as we use a crate cover it is not a key consideration for me.

Brilliant
This cage is brilliant. Super sturdy and quality material. Easy to assemble, and great that you can move it around, especially when I'm hoovering. This cage will oulast my dog.

The BEST crate on the market!
This crate absolutely works when nothing else did. I ordered 2 other brands of "heavy duty" crates and they both ended up being a huge disappointment and a pile of steel. I have a crazy Siberian husky with extreme separation anxiety and this crate has not bent nor has it been pulled apart by her unlike other crates. I chose the "Y" design crate, and you can see this product is far better. It has a 3 row cross bar making it a lot stronger than any other heavy duty crate I bought. The best she could do was scratch the crate and you can see how she completely pulled apparent several bars off the other "heavy duty crate" in the last picture. I added a picture of her attacking the crate to give you an idea of how aggressively she tries to get out and she cannot escape this crate at all and it's been a month of peace for me and I'm training her slowly to stay at home (we do 4hrs a day for now).If you have a crazy dog you NEED crated, buy this crate now! I'd recommend a video camera as well to check in to coach the dog while it's adjusting to being crated and you can talk to the dog to calm it down when they have a panic attack. This crate has literally saved my dog and my house! Slowly her separation anxiety is being cured because this crate can actually contain her!

Looks nice, seems weak
Cage looks good, concerned about its strength as the welds do not seem properly done and look weak. The way the cage is attached to the base is weak as well. Will see how well it holds up
