Eye opening to say the least
I had to read this book for a class the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. I had never heard for George Müller before. I am so thankful for this book now that I have finished it. It is written in a very clear and engaging manner. The author has done a great job in “writing in the background”. Meaning I never really noticed the author, it all flowed very well together. I would recommend this book to first Pastors. Being a pastor myself this book challenged me in my prayer life and forced me to re-evaluate my own convictions about the importance and effect of prayer. With that said, I’d recommend this book to any layperson who wants to grow in their prayer life and faith. It is true that the God of the Old Testament is the same God of today. I gave this book 5 stars because it is well written, engaging, thoughtful, and clear. Praise God for men like Müller and for the now somewhat out of fashion practice of journaling. If it weren’t for Müller journals I imagine this would have been a very different and difficult book to write.

Proof of Faith
I enjoyed reading this book. This rating was chosen because I noticed some unclear sentences. Other than that, this was a great book. I would recommend it to any one - believer or not. The author was effective in explaining George Müller`s goal, which was to prove the infallibility of God and His promises. Any one looking for proof of faith in the Lord would be greatly aided by the story of George Müller.

First Book I bought as a U.S. Marine.
Forty five years ago I bought a copy of this book at a bookstore on the US Naval Base in Subic Bay in the Philippine Islands. I have read it many times and it has always encouraged and inspired me. I just read it again and it seemed like I am reading it again for the first time. Again I’m encouraged, inspired, and thankful for the life of this kind man who chose to pursue and participate in eternal promises of the Kingdom of God.

God is faithful!
I gave five stars not because of the writing but because of the man the writing is about. I can only hope to have a faith like George Muller’s some day. If you need an inspiration of joy and admiration then read this book.

In Awe
I'm left in awe at the life of George Muller. His faith, his work, and his legacy should inspire us all. Steer's bio leaves no stone unturned yet left me turning the pages. Well done!

30 days ago I never knew the man existed. 30 days later I could never forget George Mueller!
I don't believe I have ever been more moved by a non-fiction book other than the Bible. Roger takes you back to the early 1800's rich in detail; both the beautiful landscapes and also reads like a personal diary with the highs and lows of Mueller's deeply intimate walk with God in Christ - with actual excerpts from Mueller's diary in fact. 30 days ago I never knew the man existed. 30 days later I could never forget him.

Promotes Faith
Bought this on recommendation of my pastor. I believe it is accurate about Muller's life and what he accomplished.I also get my prayers answered, so I don't think it unusual. ask, seek, knock...takes faith to let go and let God...The later chapters get bogged down with details about Muller's travels and speaking appointments, etc.Basically, English society in 1800s needed better health care and sanitation, along with birth control so there wouldn't be so many needy orphans to care for. Parents and kids died of cholera, TB, smallpox, typhus, pneumonia, childbirth--thank goodness for modern medicine, vaccines and birth control!I think any believer would enjoy this easy-to-read bio.

Everyone should read this book and marvel at how George Muller saved so many orphans
A truly inspiring book, particularly if you live or are visiting Bristol. Every bookcase should have one, Even Dickens was amazed and cheered by what he did. Lovely stories of how the orphanages worked and were supported.

Man of faith
This is an inspirational read, as you follow one man's journey of faith. I think few people today would dare to do what he did, and yet he was such a blessing to so many, and used by God so much in the lives of the children of Bristol in the 19th century as well as around the world through his preaching ministry. It has made me re-evaluate my own faith.
