Easy, cheap way for my dark brown hair to lighten up.
I have used Sun In for many years on and off. I recently was using the Tropical Breeze variety and it worked great on my dark brown hair. I didn't even realize how much lighter my hair was getting until I compared pictures from before I started using Sun In and after. The Lemon kind is fine as well. Some say the Tropical Breeze has more peroxide and is "stronger". I haven't really noticed much difference between the two. I spray Sun In on my dry hair and just leave it in. I don't even blow dry it or go in the sun half the time. Sometimes, I spray it and blow dry. When it gets warmer, I will certainly go out in the sun with Sun In in my hair because that will speed up the lightening. I like lighter brown hair but it gets damaged when my stylist does it. I get no damage when using Sun In. It's gradual but that's fine with me. It looks natural too. The only thing is that I don't really get highlights. I get all over lightening. It's probably because I don't spray just a few strands separately but just spray it wherever. Obviously where I spray, it will lighten. I have seen pictures of black haired women going blond just from Sun In but that wouldn't happen with me. It just takes me down a few shades which is all I want.In all, it's a cheap and easy way to lighten even dark hair. I have had my hair professionally highlighted and still used Sun In to brighten my look. It CAN turn a bit brassy at times. I recently dyed over my hair with a dark blonde hair color which toned down the brassiness but didn't lighten my hair overall since you can't go from dark to light without bleaching or peroxide. So now, whenever I see that my hair is looking a little yellow or brassy, I will just dye it with the dark blond and I am good to go. I'm pleased with the product and have been for decades.NOTE: The photo I attached is me at my darkest natural color. The second photo is after three bottles of Sun In and sun exposure. It was starting to get brassy so I eventually toned it down but you can see it really does lighten! I do think though that the second picture makes my hair look a bit lighter than it really is. It really depends on the lighting.

Love this!
At the beginning of the summer, I thought about Sun In that I used when I was a teenager so I searched and found it here. It's very simple to use. No messy at-home hair color kits. I did not use the hairdryer method as suggested. I sprayed it on when I was going to the beach or kayaking and let the sun do the work. It slowly lightens your hair over time so you would need to be patient, but the results after several uses is great. Will plan to use it again next year.

Advid user of Sun In
I am naturally dirty blonde with long hair. I use to get highlights every couple of months and it got so ridiculously expensive, I stopped 6 years ago and haven't had my hair professional highlighted since. My sisters and I put lemon juice in our hair during the summer and I am very happy that I found a product that provides the same highlights, if not better, year around. Winter time is always tough because my hair gets darker and I'm tempted to go to the salon, but with this product, I will never be tempted again!I think the trick to this product is to start slow, very slow. I purchased a bottle of the tropical and started with spraying a little on my fingers and adding it to a few strands around my face because I was afraid that it would damage my hair or turn it a funky color. I would do this every other time before I would blow dry my hair, and I really liked the results. No damage and no strange, unnatural color - I also should mention I use this when my hair is towel dried before blow drying. I then got a little braver and started to directily spray it on small sections on the top of my hair, framing my face and then running my fingers through that section to distrubute it. I didn't saturate with the philosophy that less is more. The top half of my hair is now really, really blonde and I am asked all the time if I get my hair high lighted. When I reply with Sun In, people usually do not believe me.I really did not use very much each time, and one bottle lasted my a year and a half. I was shocked it lasted me that long. It is a very good investment for the price. Now my next step is the under layer of my hair. It has gotten significantly darker now that it is January and there is a definate difference in color from the top layer of my hair. I've started to spray about 3-5 times around my bottom layer, towards the roots, and I am fairly confident that I will get the desired results.Through my experience, the key to this product is patience, patience, patience - less is more! I have always heard negative things about Sun In my whole life, but all of those myths are busted. I ordered one in lemon and one in tropical and that should last me a few years. I'm very glad I took that chance and started to use this product and I really hope they never stop selling it!

Good for the Price - Results not as obvious as I'd hoped
I have brown hair, it isn't dark but it's not light either and I also have grown out highlights left over from last summer. I had really high hopes for this product because I was hoping it'd work just as well as going to the salon. As of now I've used it 3 times. I'm starting to tell a slight difference in the shade of my hair color. It's very subtle, and frankly, I think I'm the only one who can tell. It hasn't done anything to my already color treated hair (I was terrified it'd make orange streaks through my hair where old highlights were left behind) which is really good but the color difference is not as obvious as I was going for. However for the price, I think it is a fine product & maybe if I was a natural dirty blonde it'd work better and give me the color I was trying to go for.
