Wonderful new approaches to quilting that are really wonderful for those of us who usually make traditional quilts, but who want to transition into more modern quilt construction. Excellent introduction into each approach, such as strip and strata quilting, with beautiful examples of how the approach can be applied. Projects range in size from wall hangings to table runners, baby quilts, throws, and bed quilts. Beautiful approach using modern colors and neutral backgrounds. I would highly recommend this as an essential guide to quilters looking for new techniques adapted from traditional quilting, with an emphasis on "modern features" like neutral colors and open space to highlight fine quilting. Great book!

I love her style, a real inspirational standout from the rest. I’ve made a quilt from this book and enjoyed every freeing moment of it. Gorgeous photos and layout, nice to leave on the bedside table from time to time just for the sake of thumbing through. I always feel zealous with fresh ideas after going through the pages. Writing a book on something you work at “off the cuff” is no small task, she’s pulled it off here gorgeously.

There are some simple, yet updated, quilt options for the modern quilter. Some of the designs are better than others, but can be adapted if you are willing to stray from perfection and complication.

I really like this book. There are a lot of very cute patterns that I would really like to make. There are patterns for fun quick items. The patterns you make because you just feel like sewing for the afternoon,such as coasters and table runners. There are patterns for lovely small quilts that would be something different, but not take forever to make. I'm happy I have this book.

This is such a helpful book for me. I decided I needed to loosen up and expand my quilting skills, and find creative ways to knock down my pile of quilting fabric scraps for projects at the same time. Instructions and inspiration are excellent and can be applied to much more than what's in the book.

This is an easy guide for those who want to tackle free motion quilting. There are several ways to approach the planning with no rigid rules!

This is the sort of book where you want to start making immediately. The projects look fresh and usable and are based in tradition. This book introduces three improv piecing techniques and traditional techniques such as log cabins and needle turn appliqué to marry old and new with a complete twist. There are 18 projects in all with a wide range of appeal. The book includes Creating With Strips, Strata and Slice and Insert improv methods. There are design tips and information for quilting on your home machine as well as special instructions for piecing curves, sewing triangles, quilt as you go, needle turn appliqué and hand quilting. Instructions are very clear and beautifully presented and include at-a-glance Materials, cutting and finished size, construction and excellent photographs and diagrams. Projects include baby quilts, cushions, throws, table runners, coasters, wall hanging, table mats and quilts in different sizes. Recommended.
