Works great, here is a pinout of the RJ45 connector
I have been using these for years on random industrial equipment that connects with RJ11, RJ12, or RJ45 serial connections.

Gender was hard to determine but this is a good product
Used this product to link a Power Line Modem to a Universal Devices Polisy. Converting the serial device from a previous connection made by use of an IP cable since the Polisy has a 9-Pin serial connector and the PLM has an RJ45 connector. I had something to follow from Universal Devices, but I checked it against the data sheet for the product to ensure it was correct. Works well. Do know, if you push a connector into one of the Serial plug sockets, you cannot take it back out.

Perfect to extend or adapt legacy RS232 devices
I used this to adapt to my Tektronix THS700 series oscilloscope (710/720/730) which has an RJ-45 RS232 port. Worked like a charm with the connections shown in the attached diagram (Thanks to the reviewer that posted the StarTech data sheet). This would also be perfect to extend RS232 cables using cheap CAT 5 ethernet cables. Of course, you'll need an RS232 to USB converter to connect to any computer made in the past decade. I've had very good luck with the UGREEN adapters sold on Amazon.

Decent quality and pins all work
This adapter did not come with any pin out instructions. It doesn't seem like it can handle much abuse, which is expected since it's made out of plastic. As other reviewers mentioned, the wire colors are not standard. I ordered two of them and the pinouts were the same for both so maybe they're all configured the same way. In case you need it, the pinout from the RJ45 (Colors following T-568B) to DB9 wires isRJ45 to DB9 Wires1(OW) - Blue wire2(O) - Orange3(WG) - Black4(B) - Red5(WB )- Green6(WG )- Yellow7(WBr) - Brown8(Br) - White

Pin removal
I read a couple of negative reviews complaining that the pins could not be removed once inserted.Of course not else when you attached a male db9 to this female it would force the pins out of the housing. If you inadvertently insert a pin into the wrong hole you need to use a pin extractor designed for this type of pin such as the AMP 91285 pictured. The tool is inserted from the rear. In a pinch you could probably make something, it's just a narrow steel tube with a slit down the length to allow the wire to enter

Works as it should.
Simple design that can be adapted easily to whatever pinout is needed. In my case, I used it to connect an Insteon serial powerline modem (PLM) to a Universal Devices eisy smart home controller. An additional cable was needed to go from this headshell to USB, but docs are available online on what to get there. This headshell took a couple of minutes to configure and works like a charm.

IT/RF field tech here
IT here, use this for cisco routers. For the price, its a steal. Works good, crimps are good enough. This kind of tech is over 3 decades old so complaints are likely invalid and user error.

Pricey, but functional
This is a quality RJ 45 to DB9 adapter, the only issue is the price. No way this is worth what they charge, but if you need one it gets the job done. Would've given a 4 star, if not for the price.
