Digital Coating Thickness Gauge CM-218 Best Mil/Micron Paint Depth Meter for Car and Industrial (Resolution 0.01mils)

Unit was delivered on June 6th, but i was not able to check it until July 10th. Unit says "Sensor Error" and will to operate. I tried to return for exchange and was told no return after July 6th. So, i am stuck with a $140 non working unit because I did not get to it until 4 days past the 30 day window. I missed the 30 day return policy and would have gotten to it sooner if I had know, my fault for that, but still not happy at all.This is an update to my review. The company vvv-Group reached out to me and offered to replace the non-working unit. Very good customer service. I updated my review from 1 star to 5 stars as the units works perfectly and is extremely accurate. My only wish would be that the calibration process be better explained in the very small manual, but like i said, the unit came calibrated and was extremly accurate upon arrival.

This coating depth gauge is a high quality build. Has a full color screen and even speaks the measurements to you. It is a must have for any bodyshop, detailer, or someone who is looking to purchase a car and doesn't want to get a vehicle full of body filler.

Compared to a DelFesko, readings were within a couple mil and this is about one-tenth of the price. Used in industrial powder coating environment. Speaks out the measurement and keeps record and graph of previous readings. Pretty much everything you could ask for.

I almost had to return this. Until I realized that the materials in the box NEED to be used for proper calibration. There’s 6 items in the box, but the calibration asks for 7. So I just used the 6th one twice. Not sure if this affects the accuracy.The instructions are worthless. I’m glad I got this thing to work correctly. I was about to buy a $500 coating meter.

Product never worked. The testing probe (the part that touches the paint) was recessed by about half an inch into the unit, instead of slightly protruding like all the pictures. Unsurprisingly, it wouldn’t calibrate, or measure anything. I read the instructions multiple times to make sure I wasn’t missing a step. It even had a “QC passed” sticker on the back. Who is working the quality control line?? They didn’t even verify the product LOOKS right, let alone functions.Disgraceful. Really kind of pitiful.
