Such a wonderful instrument
My daughter was learning the clarinet on my old clarinet and my poor old clarinet was just not up for the job long term. I already have a Yamaha step-up flute, so the brand is a solid trusted brand in my life already and I didn’t even blink when thinking about which brand to go with for my kiddo. The clarinet is beautiful 😍 the wood is gorgeous and the pads and springs were in perfect working order. My kiddo has been playing clarinet for almost a year and she can already produce a deep, rich tone with this instrument. I even played it because I was a wee bit envious and it was such a fun experience! Just as smooth and beautiful as my flute. I will always recommend Yamaha instruments for students.Update:My kiddo loves her clarinet. I just had to retire my old clarinet, so I bought a second one for myself. We both play in our community band and I needed a better instrument, since my old clarinet was one purchased at a yard sale in 02 and has had many accidents over the years (vandalism in the band room-lesson learned there). I’m excited to have an easier time playing and can’t wait to have mine come in the next few days. Now I’ll have a Yamaha flute and clarinet. Next I guess I need to get a piccolo from them 😅🥰).

Great quality and sound for a good price!
I bought this to replace my old used Yamaha wood clarinet that I used to play in high school and sold when I was a stay at home mom in order to afford to stay home with my babies. Now my oldest is 10 and just got a saxophone for band and it brought back memories of high school band so I purchased this one because it is as close to what I had as I could find. Yamaha makes a high quality instrument for a reasonable price. The sound is even better than my old one. Now just to buy a crystal mouthpiece like I used to have! This instrument plays better than my old one, and lacks the issues that I previously had with an intermittently squeaky register key that I never could seem to get fixed. The only issue I’ve had is that one of the large lower pads fell out during cleaning, but probably because I let it get too wet or because I over-oiled it and the glue let loose. A quick trip to the local repair shop and $25 later I was back in business! Lesson learned —- keep your instrument dry!!! Even if that means popping the reed off and running a swab through it in the middle of your session. The only other comment I have is that although amazon’s price is still better than purchasing straight from the factory, I did buy mine at $150 less than it’s currently listed for. The price went up the day after my purchase!

Wrong Case
The Clarinet arrived quickly and the instrument appears as advertised. Seller was Sam Ash. I was going to return it, however, because the case received was neither of the two cases appearing in the photo. The description mentions a CLC-400EII Case which is the soft case listed in the rear of the photo. The case received is from Yamaha (no model number listed) but is an inferior case although functional. Feeling deceived after spending $1500+ is not one of my fondest Christmas memories.

Beautiful instrument at a good price
The instrument was exactly as advertised. It was used but looked pretty much brand new at a decent price. I did have an issue with one note squeaking that was not an embouchure problem. After a couple weeks of frustration and a couple visits to the repair shop, it ended up being a simple adjustment. Anyhow all good now.

Four Stars
Good clarinet but a $1200 instrument should have a better case, not a hardshell.

Excellent Clarinet for a Great Price
I am a former intermediate player (I played for 13 years as a child/teenager) and have been wanting to 'brush the dust off' so to speak and start playing again for the longest time. After a lot of research comparing models and brands, I finally decided to bite the bullet and purchase this Yamaha, as it seemed to be the best compromise of price and quality. I am so glad I did. I am extremely happy with my clarinet! It shipped quickly, plays beautifully, and is in perfect condition. The seller was also wonderful to work with - very responsive, helpful and truly cares about both the instruments and making his customers happy. I wouldn't hesitate to purchase again.

This is a wonderful clarinet. It sounds beautiful
This is a wonderful clarinet. It sounds beautiful. You have to break it in gradually in the beginning but then it is awesome.
