Worth every penny if you take the time to learn how to use it
I was initially disappointed because the seller was unwilling to replace a missing thumb bolt, one of two that hold the sharp blade in place. Fortunately the manufacturer responded to my call with a replacement part immediately. After attempting to cut carpet using a handheld device while on my knees, I quickly gave up and spent the money to buy this wonderful tool. The key is to hold it with upward pressure from your lower hand placed beneath the shaft so that the blade and pointed probe stay between the carpet and the pad. If the blade gets below the pad it will not cut well and it simply confuses the picture. So once you get it in the correct plane you can cut through carpet like a hot knife through butter. In removing 1700 square feet of old filthy carpet from our home I have learned a lot and this is the tool you want. You may only use it on one project in your own home but it pays for itself in the absence of knee pain and other sore joints. Just be careful as the blade is sharp and does dull a bit, but not enough to be safe, with use. I make a point of only handling the blades with pliers.

Cut it right on up!
Took up 2,000 sqft of carpet in our new business location and saved $900 with this thing!! I'm telling you now, I wouldn't have been able to do it without this! Me and my oldest son were wore out but if it weren't for this tool we would've never completed it. It cut really easy once you get used to the angle needed to make it cut smoothly. The handle slid down a bit but not far enough to matter to me. I bought an extra tip after reading reviews but ended up not needing it at all. It was still cutting sharply right down to the last strip of carpet! I would definitely recommend this for anyone facing a floor full of carpet that needs to go!

DO NOT BUY. DID NOT WORK. NO SUPPORT FROM VENDOR
I was excited to try this tool. However it did not work. After one inch the carpet jammed into the crevice channel of the tool and wouldn’t cut any more. I had three other men try, one of which was a carpet layer and they too said it’s not working.I had to resort to a $10 box blade to get the job done.I did not realize that it was past a return window but thought since it did not work plus the fact it is quite expensive, I thought the vendor would consider refunding - but got nothing from them. Just past the window. So in essence you’re outta luck sister!!Obviously they do not stand behind their product or they would make it right.Do not take a chance on this product. Too expensive to be a lemon!!!!

Expensive Back Saver with minor issues
I love that this tool saves you from hours on your knees. However the blade likes to come loose. The channel the blade sits in gets full of muck, and despite the simple thumb screws its not an easy blade change.I also find the telescoping pole slides down more often than desired when stabbing through tough carpet.

Great tool
I'm not in the flooring business but we had to take up 6000SF of glue down at the church I attend. This was a life saver. Worked great

must have
If you have employees who tear out carpet (padded or glue-down) and don't own a couple of these, you're both a business fool and cruel. Easily three times faster than a utility knife, and infinitely easier on the body than the knees-and-a-knife method. You're welcome for the free business advice. Showed a couple general contractors this during a floor demo/concrete polish and they were amazed. Guess they don't google better ways to improve their businesses much. As far as the actual product, I'm very pleased with the extendable, fiber reinforced handle, the dual-locking feature and the general high quality. Have two (better get the carpet gripper/puller handles, too), would replace them immediately if they got lost/stolen. Carbide/steel/whatever spike lasts a long time, haven't even changed a blade yet after couple jobs.

Great tool.
I found this looking at a youtube video after feeling like there must be an easier way to cut carpet than use a razor blade. I love this tool because it allows you to cut through carpet without having to get down on your knees and put your face all close to the old carpet and dirt and dust particles, etc. I gave it a 4 because I thought it would be like a miracle product that I could just keep walking in an effortless straight line and it would tear through the carpet. I was dreaming a bit, but it most certainly makes life much much much easier when removing carpet. This tool + heavy duty pliers has saved me thousands of dollars instead of having to hire a crew to take out old carpeting on a recent home purchase.

So worth the money
I just did a pretty gross job and this kept me from having to kneel on down on the floor. I would have payed twice the amount for the tool just not to have to do it with a razor knife on my hands and knees.
