Excellent progressions of diamond plates to sharpen any bladed object.
The media could not be loaded. These sharpening plates are a great addition to my sharpening kit. I use them to sharpen everything from kitchen knives, to wood chisels, to plane irons. These stones do the bulk of any sharpening I do for my tools. I use these stones in conjunction with Trend U*DWS/HP/LS Honing Compound Leather Strop charged with Green Chrome Oxide Compound, 6 oz. to achieve the blades I have uploaded photos and videos of in this review. The only drawback to these plates are that they are just short of 2 inches wide even though it is advertised as 2 inches wide. Another thing that is odd about their dimension, is that the height is not constant from plate to plate. This does not bother me much and there may be a good reason for it--I am not sure.Dimensions can be seen on the photos I have attached.Included in this set are 3 plates--300 grit, 600 grit, and 1200 grit. These plates DO NOT come with the wooden holder trays. I made those myself in order to be able to lock the plate into a vice. It is relatively easy to make some quick recessed wooden blocks to hold these plates.Pros:*All grits work as advertised*Nice and flat*I am able to turn a burr no problem on these platesCons:*Just shy of advertised 2 inch width (Around 1 15/16 inch wide). So this prevents me from sharpening a 2 inch plane iron using a honing guide. (-1/2 a star).Additional Considerations:The 2 inch width problem stated above can be worked around. I just hold the blade diagonally to sharpen it. This prevents me from using a honing guide but I find myself relying less on the honing guides these days any ways. It would be nice to get the full 2 inch width though.Another thing--DO NOT use water as medium for sharpening on these plates. It will rust the plate. I personally use some windex and it works perfectly without rusting the plates or getting your hands too dirty. Pick up some SafeTouch Nitrile Exam Gloves, Non Latex, Powder Free, Large, Box/100 if you do not want the windex on your hands.Overall: 4.5/5 stars (>=.5 rounds up, <.5 rounds down) => 5 starsIf you have any further questions regarding the product in my review please leave a comment below and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Would happily buy again!
Absolutely love these stones, they cut great and you can put whatever edge you want on your blade. I’ve used them quite a bit since I bought them and they still cut and work like a light bulb before planned obsolescence!

Good stones - a little small
I bought the set of 3 (300/600/1200) to sharpen my 40 yr old wood chisels. They work great. I followed the included directions about breaking the stones in and then started flattening the backs of the chisels and moved on to sharpening and polishing the bevel. I have no complaints what-so-ever. My chisels shave wood better than ever and I see no wear on the stones after working them for an hour or more. Time will tell if they hold up over time but for now they seem like quality tools. I kind of wish I had bought the 3x8 versions but I wasn't sure enough about the quality to pay the extra. Next time I'll get the bigger one

Impressed
I am not a good sharper by no means but after trying to sharpen my knife, which was rounded off more than a butter knife, it now has an edge that will cut again. I am not good enough at the moment the make a blade sharp enough to cut a shadow but cutting zip ties, tape, rope and cardboard along with the occasional apple this product has been just fine. I am not sure about the longevity of these but seem well built. The box says "it will smooth over time and actually improve in sharpening efficiency". I can tell after one use the 300 and 600 are smoother than when I started but the stones are still aggressive enough to shape the steel the way I intended it to.

I needed diamond stones to speed up changing the horrible factory profile
I got these based on one review. I rarely have to sharpen a chisel since woodwork isn't really one of my hobbies but I wanted diamond stones that were level. These suit that need perfectly. The main reason I bought these though was that I have a couple of stainless steel knives that were just too hard to sharpen with my existing stones. I needed diamond stones to speed up changing the horrible factory profile. These allowed me to do that much more quickly than I imagined possible. The course grit handled that and will probably not get much use beyond tasks such as that. The medium and fine stones are very easy to use for sharpening and finishing up with stropping makes quick work of resharpening tasks. These are worth more than they cost. If I ever wear these out, I'll buy them again. On a side note I was facing into the sun while sharpening a knife and with each stroke across the stone I would see a fine dust of steel glimmer in the sunlight. It was something I'd never actually seen before.

Quality product
Owned it for better part of the year now. Used to sharpen several different high-end steels. Thoroughly satisfied.

No Grit
I received the sharpening plates very quickly and was initially impressed by the grit quality. After reading and following the instructions I sharpened one knife with D2 steel. I started on the 300 to re-profile. Once I got a burr I began on the other side and once again quickly got a burr. I knocked it off then moved to the 600 grit. Using the 600 went very fast and gave me good toothy edge. I decided I wanted to slightly hone the edge using the 1200 grit. Now, using only the weight of the blade I made several passes on each side of the blade. I was surprised to see and feel that once finished the area of the 1200 where the blade had been in contact was as smooth as the back of the plate. I know these stones “break in” and the initial course feeling does diminish after a few uses. That’s very common for all stones, whether diamond or natural. I never expected that 10 passes on each side (20) total would completely remove the grit. Very disappointed with the 1200. I’m not new to sharpening or using diamond plates and can say the amount of wear on the 1200 is not normal. I hope to get several more sharpening a with the 300/600 plates.
