Dental Hygienist
As a dental Hygienist I highly recommend this product and have seen some amazing reductions in patient's bleeding gums (bleeding=disease/infection). It is great for people with periodontal disease and gingivitis (over 90% of us have some-even professionals), as well as people who have large hands and people who have braces. I have even sold the product out of several offices because I love it so much. Here are some things to note.1) It will take a little bit to get used to. I warn my patient's that they may get water in their eyes the first few times. The resevoir is smaller and will need to be refilled.2) It is very convenient. When you see this in your shower you are more likely to use it daily and make it a habit. You may have to recharge it every week or so when it runs down. Also, before you use it the first time fully charge it overnight.3) You should keep the unit away from the running water when not in use. I have had two units and never had one corrode. You need to make sure the flap where you charge it is closed fully. Just use common sense...turn the charging portal away from the water when you refill, etc. I refill right in my shower.4) The first one I had lasted a year and a half. These things do not last forever, but for the price they are so worth it. Most people pay more for coffee a month. Is your health worth that? Also Waterpik invented the machines and are very good about replacing any defective item. Every once in awhile you get a dud battery, I don't care what kind of product it is. Call them and they will replace it.For all of you who don't know it.....we have a saying in dentistry that you only have to floss the ones you want to keep. Brushing alone will not cut it. If you do not clean under your gums you will have infection (bleeding) and bone loss around your teeth. The infection gets worse and deeper and will travel into your bloodstream. If the infection gets into your bloodstream it effects your whole body.If you have deeper pockets (probing depths) that measure 4 and above, even if you are flossing you may not be cleaning to the base of the pocket where the really nasty bacteria is hiding out. This will get where your floss will not. It does not replace floss and I tell my patient's to use them together. If you don't know what your readings are ask your Dental Hygienist. They should be checking your pockets every visit and recording them once a year. You should see your hygienist 2-4 times a year.Periodontal disease has been linked to Heart disease, Stroke, Diabetes, Alzheimer's, Pre-term low birthweight babies, Prostate Cancer....the list goes on. If your body is constantly fighting an infection in your mouth your immune system cannot do it's job if you get a cold, a cut....you name it.I am getting off my soap box. I love this product. I was skeptical at first but got deperate with a few hopeless patient's and saw amazing results...and started using it myself. Also, it will not remove hard deposits if you haven't been cleaned recently, you have to have a clean mouth to begin with.It is like anything else....you have to use it daily to see results. I use it (even before I got braces). I have my parent's using one because I believe in the product. My dad has the big countertop model and loves it...though it costs more. I have been using my second unit for over a year now. I buy them for my friends and they love them. I would not spend money on them if they didn't work.Good luck and good health! Hope this info helped some people.

Great dental care tool
I received this Waterpik as a gift several years ago for Christmas on purpose. I was starting to get really into my dental care and proper care for my teeth. My grandma actually purchased it for me because she had one herself and loved it. I used it for several years and recently it started to not work as well. It wasn't sure if it just needed to be charged and I was impatient or if maybe it had lived its life and was done. So I passed my 1st Waterpik onto my daughter after cleaning it up. I was going to buy us both new ones but she wasn't sure she was going to use it so I thought she could try the old one out 1st to see and I ordered a new one from Amazon for myself. It's a great product it works as advertised. You plug it in to charge. You can use it in the shower it does not have to be plugged in you can take it while you travel. It does not have replaceable batteries you want it to work you have to charge it up.I generally fill the Waterpik with warm water and followed the instructions on the manual. I have used full strength mouthwash like Listerine and diluted mouthwash in it with great results. However if you have sensitive teeth (like i do) room temperature mouthwash can feel really cold in your mouth so I do not advise that, dilute it with hot water. I always empty the reservoir when I'm finished even if it's just water and I always rinse it when I have used a mouthwash product. I have not had any problems with it getting gross in the water chamber, no funky odors, no bad taste. This Waterpik comes with 2 different speeds for the actual pic if your gums are too sensitive use the one that's not as pressurized. I think there might be other heads you can use I have never looked for any or needed any. This could be shared with members of the house, a husband and wife duo all with their own Waterpik heads that are easily removed.Product includes the charging cord, the Waterpik and 2 Waterpik heads.

Good Product. Does the job.
Easy to use. Small enough not to be an eyesore on the bathroom sink. Also portable to be used in the shower. Has enough power to clean gums well. I charge it once a week and use it about once a day. I would have given it 5 stars, except for two negatives: I don't like the fact that the battery is not replaceable, and have read other reviews about how after a year or so of use, you have to throw it out. I don't like disposable, and would have preferred to pay a couple of more bucks and have a battery I could replace. Also, you have about 30 seconds to do your whole mouth before the water well empties, so unless you want to take the time to refill mid mouth, you have to move pretty quick around your gums. I bought three more of these for my adult kids, and they're all really happy with them.
