Lupin the 3rd: Goemon's Blood Spray is an anime film directed by Takeshi Koike. Everything Must Return to the Soil A yakuza boss hires Goemon Ishikawa, a modern day samurai, to protect him aboard his cruise ship casino. Everything goes sideways however when a terrifyingly powerful man— the so called “Ghost of Bermuda”— shows up to put world-famous thief Lupin in the ground... right when Lupin’s trying to rob the very same ship! With his employer dead in the ensuing chaos, Goemon’s honor is at stake, and the only way to preserve it is with blood. But this opponent is like no other, and to make things right, Goemon may need to sharpen not only his sword, but himself as well! With a little help from Lupin and Jigen, of course. It’s crimson and steel in Takeshi Koike’s newest Lupin film, Goemon’s Bloodspray!

One of the Best Lupin Installments
Wow, wasn't expecting this to be as good as it is. Right out of the gate the theme song on the menu blew me away, just like a great Bond theme. Like all The Woman Called Fujiko Mine-related works, the animation is some of the best ever. This is also the most explicitly violent animation that I can recall seeing. The yakuza aspects were cool with their good character designs and cool fight scenes. It is too short, but the most negative thing is the main villain's design; he's a fat lumberjack. How lame! It is a shame, as otherwise this is as perfect a REAL Lupin film as we will probably ever get.

Goemon takes the fore in this excellent, mature, violent outing.
Very impressive outing with the gang and Goemon being the principal protagonist as he attempts to avenge his failure as a yojimbo for a mob boss and does some soul searching on his otherworldly abilities. One of the shorter outings of the TV specials at an hour, great animation and makes one yearn for a longer runtime. Picture quality and sound on the BD were excellent. Recommended. (j4.)

Excellent short film.
The animation in this short film is excellent and reminded my quite a bit of the stylized action from Redline. Fair warning this does feature one of the most visceral bits of violence I've ever seen animated.

Much different than what you might expect!
I’m use to the Lupin Franchise being more of a comedic based anime focusing on the main character “Lupin the 3rd” as a master thief. There is the same comedic elements in this Lupin movie anime but the mood is much more serious. The main character in this Lupin feature is his loyal friend and partner in crime, the samurai, Goeman. There’s literally more blood and violence in this movie than any previous Lupin feature I’ve viewed so it’s truly “not for kids”!! However it is definitely worth a watch and adds a serious addition to the Lupin Franchise that will make most fans view the anime is a significantly different way!
