Best bang for your buck Spinning reel
I own 3 Siennas (500, 2000, and a last gen 2500) and I can say for certain - this is all the money you have to spend to get a quality spinning reel. I own more expensive reels, but the Sienna is a great bargain and is as smooth as reels twice the price.I used my previous gen 2500 Sienna for the better half of 10-years on a 6’6” Lightning Rod as an all around bass setup. I accidentally slipped and fell, landing on the reel and warped the bail pretty badly and haven’t gotten around to fixing it unfortunately. My 500 is on a 4’6” ultralight Ugly Stik and is my sole ultralight setup for creek fishing with 1/32-1/16oz jigs for sunfish, rock bass, and whatever else will bite. I’ve caught some pretty nice Smallmouth on it as well and it performs flawlessly. It is a perfect color match for the Ugly Stik too.My one gripe with Shimano is that they do not offer a 2000 size for many of their models. Because of that, I use a Daiwa Regal as my main river/creek Smallmouth setup. I want a reel I can carry and cast all day long, and the 2000 size seems to fits me best - with the 1000s not having enough line capacity and the 2500s being a bit too bulky/heavy. When I saw that this new gen with the black and red color combination had a 2000-size, I purchased one just to keep as a backup (I still prefer my Daiwa Regal over it, but it’s twice the price). I’ve not gotten a lot of time with it but I’m sure it’ll work as well as the others - just need to find a good medium-light rod to pair it with.

Super good for the price
I have these reels in a few sizes and they all work well, are smooth to reel and have smooth drags. Easy to take apart to maintain. It would be a hard sell to upgrade from these to a.ore expensive model. I'd rather save in the reel and have a higher quality rod.

Smooth
Amazing reel for panfish. I put 2 lb line on it and it casts even the lightest of jigs great distances. The reel is very smooth and appears very well constructed. It should last a lifetime.

Hard to find a more likable reel for Crappie or Bluegils
I own three of these and anyone who ever shopped for a 500 series size reel knows there are few out there that perform as needed. The only reel that I think gives this little red Shimano a run for the money is the Daiwa 750 series. And that's only because the handle folds inward when not in use and has a very similar profile. Sienna though is tried and true for any fish that's below 3 lbs. Ideally suited for Panfish rods and less than 1 lb species. But you will never have a problem reeling in a slab and the Shimano gearing is like butter. I only buy Shimano and Daiwa spinning reels. All the other stuff out there is cheap junk from lacking/ mass producing Chinese marketeers. I think Pfluger and Abu Garcia are second rate, Lews is over priced and outmatched in this light category but, all are a notch above the typical junk seen on Amazon. Buy a Sienna for 30 bucks. you can't beat these little reels. And Bass Pro has Lews or Daiwa making their reels. But they leave out the goodies in the low end series and overprice their brand on the upper end. If you want to get a great all round use multipurpose reel that's extremely light and works with 5 lb+ Bass as well as small Crappies and Sunnys then get a Tatula Spinning reel in 2000 or 2500. You will need to fish a light leader and retie in-between species and the weight is unbelievable in balance. But for 30 bucks, the Shimano is my go to panfish rod/reel combo. Best buy in reels bar none, experienced, beginner, novice, even pro. Name me a better package than a St Croix light weight or Ultra Light rod with one of these reels? You can't!

Awesome
This is a great reel for the price point. Just finished coming back from camping using this reel w/a med action Shimano FX 6ft rod. Caught my trout limit by 11 on day 1 and by 1130 on day 2. Very smooth, long casting reel, w/anti reverse. Buy it!
