Great Resource for reinforcing grammar rules...
Hello- I am a third grade teacher of children with special needs (language delayed students who are typically reading on a 2nd grade level). I love using the Daily paragraph editing as a "brain-warmer" activity at the start of the day. This allows the students to practice specific grammar rules- such as punctuation, commas in a series, capitalization, proper nouns, spelling, possessives, plurals, etc- in a quick refreshing way. There are four short editing paragraphs relating to the same topic and each one lists what grammar rules are being targeted. This helps the students to find the mistakes if they have a more difficult time recognizing the errors independently. For students who are higher level, I simply white out the "hint" area and allow them to find the errors blindly.I made transparencies of my favorite paragraphs, and every morning I put one up on the board and have the class copy the paragraph down in their "writing notebook" making the appropriate corrections utilizing editing marks. It's a great way to save paper, reinforce grammar rules, and keep the class fresh on the grammar rules they have learned and are continuing to master.

Excellent!
My 7 year old loves doing these! We're homeschoolers and these have been great supplement to her regular grammar and spelling curriculum. Each week's paragraphs focus on a specific subject (age-appropriate health, science, biographical information,etc...you name it!). There's also an optional writing prompt on Fridays based on the information learned throughout the week. I was hesitant about buying this because of its price, but given the excellent layout and content, I think it's well worth it!

Great teaching source
I use this in language therapy to check for mastery and probe in other areas that need to be taught.

Puts student in teacher's seat
Great for teaching editing symbols. I bought it for home schooling, but it's more for classroom use, as the pages are reproducible - in fact, they have to be reproduced and given to student/child page by page, because the answers are on the page to the left! Still, it's adaptable for home schooling. After each week's editing assignment, student has to write a story relating to the paragraphs he/she edited. It's not a full writing curriculum, but it's useful for putting your child in the position of finding the mistakes, being the teacher.

Worst workbook format we’ve ever encountered…
The lessons this book teaches are great grammar reinforcements, and very similar to how the Fix-It Grammar series works. HOWEVER, the answers to each exercise are on the OPPOSITE PAGE of the student work, meaning the only way you can use these exercises is to 1) copy every page, 2)remove all the pages of the book and only give out one page at a time, or 3) let the kid see the answers on the previous page while they’re doing their work. Which is NOT a good format for a workbook. And the publisher’s solution/recommendation for how to use this format…is to make overhead projector slides for each page?!? Like I said, great lessons, but hands down the most boneheaded formatting I’ve ever seen from a workbook (and we go through five dozen a year).

Good learning
I love this book. I use it on my second-graders to see if they can find the mistakes in the paragraphs. This helps them find their own mistakes when they are writing.
