Great Set, a Must-Read Review for Lego Lovers/Anyone Who is Considering Purchasing the Set
Wow. This set is fabulous. It has a great color scheme and is very accurate compared to The Force Awakens. The accuracy is varied for different reasons. On the bad side, in the film the nose of the fighter comes to a bit more of a point, where as the Lego version is not as pointed. Another feature I would have liked to see a bit more detail inside of the intakes on the wings, but it's fine as is. Another comparison is that on the back of the top wing his fighter is marked by three tally marks, indicating his codename is Black Three, when in reality he is Black Leader. On the good side, Lego stayed VERY accurate to the fighter in the film. They added the little details that count, such as the pin-stripe stickers on the intake on the wings, the fuel port and comm systems on top, symbolized by stickers, the throttle, pipes, and even a yellow brick to symbolize an eject handle in the cockpit area, and the small Lego cog on the rear of the fighter. The playability on this set is fabulous. You can place BB-8 in the droid cockpit(sadly you can't place a regular R2 unit in it). Although he fits well, it would have been nice to see a feature that can lift him off the ground and into the cockpit though. The main cockpit has TREMENDOUS playability. You can place a minifigure in the seat, and you can even place a weapon in a clip behind the seat. I love how you can twist the knob on the top to have the wings extend and you can even hold the fighter by the back and fly it around like that. One feature I don't like about when you hold it by the end is that the rear engines come loose easily when bumped. The landing gear is a nice feature and a classic must for any X-Wing. The Spring-Loaded Shooters on each Wing-Mounted gun is a great feature, as well as the stud shooters below the cockpit, resembling the torpedo launching bay from the classic design. The extras are nice as well. You get a small hover-sled that can have a driver, a passenger, and extra ammunition and tools in the back. You also get a small ladder. I think that this is a pretty neat feature, although it's also an accuracy flaw. In the film the standard Resistance-Type X-Wings have built-in ladders underneath the cockpit. I still like that you get it though. You get 3 mini figures as well as BB-8: Poe Dameron, Resistance Pilot, and Resistance Ground Crew. These are great mini figures and essential to the set in my opinion. All in all, this is a great set. It has a higher price point of $80, and is a bit higher than normal in price-per-brick, but in m opinion, it's well worth it. I'm giving this set a 9/10 rating based on accuracy, playability, and minifigs. If you love Lego Star Wars and you don't already have an X-Wing, this is a must-buy.

An amazing return to my childhood
It's been just about 20 years since I built my last Lego set and building this set made me feel like I was 10 again. I'll admit I wasn't a big fan of the black and orange color scheme but after watching the movie and seeing Poe's T-70 X-Wing in action I grew fond of it. It took me just a little over 3 hours to build and the entire journey along the way was absolutely delightful. The engineering behind this is 2nd to none! The wings open and close with ease thanks to the sophisticated gear/cam system implemented and the rubber bands. I know most people were complaining about the blue rubber bands sticking out like a sore thumb but it didn't really bother me since the wings open and close with such ease. From a production/manufacturing standpoint, where everything is standardized, the different color rubber bands have their own dimensions and tension rating, so it makes sense if the rubber bands don't always fit the color scheme. The mini-figures are great with BB-8 being my favorite! The only negative aspect to this kit are the 4 engine thrusters in the rear as they have a tendency to become loose and can fall off.Overall this is an amazing set and any Star Wars fan should pick this one up. If you're still not a fan of the black/orange colors then you'll be happy to know Lego will be re-releasing this kit later this year in its white/blue colors as seen in the movie (Lego 75149).

My son bought it and loves it.
This kit is really good with easy to follow instructions. My five year old spent his birthday money on it. It took him a week or so to put together, and now he loves it.This was great for his coordination and following directions. He was able to do most of it on his own with a few questions answered here and there and a few large assembly steps needing our help. Also, he told me he wanted this before I knew it existed. He was certain that Pore's would be orange, which is the "only color of the resistance". And it is.If your child does not have experience with small parts yet, do not get this for a five year old! We had already put together several of the junior sets and regular sets with him before letting him get this. Also, there is a small X wing Lego set, get that first if you're at all concerned. This set has over 700 pieces. You don't want them all over your house.

A Very fun One Day Build
As a Kid growing up in the late 80's early 90's Lego was a big part of my Childhood. I recently got back into the Lego building scene a couple years ago while I was in Physical therapy rehab (my Sister bought me a Lego Delorean from Back to the Future). I was not expecting the X-Wing to be so big when it arrived on Sunday February 26th at 12 Noon. I started building it and was finished by 5 pm that day. It looks absolutely amazing sitting on a shelf in my room alongside the previously mentioned Delorean and a Star Wars Jedi Starfighter. I just got a Lego Batman Batmobile that will be my next One Day build.

An outstanding kit with great detail - and it provided one of the best-timed Christmas experiences I could have hoped for!
Pre-Christmas viewing of the new Star Wars in IMAX? Check. 9-year old's excited and ecstatic reaction to opening this Christmas gift? Double-check! That same child's ear-to-ear smile of pride and amazement after a few hours of dedicated concentration and construction producing an outstanding model-like reproduction of the black X-wing Fighter? Triple-check!! His 5-year old little brother beaming with pride, excitement and amazement that his brother could actually pull off the flawless construction of the X-Wing Fighter (given the constant brotherly interruptions, that big brother patiently weathered)? Quadruple Check!!!This is an outstanding kit - and worth every penny given the engagement and example it allowed my older son to demonstrate for his little brother. Dad - beaming with pride as well!
