Unbelievable amount of work must have gone into this writing, which is appropriate, because Dr. Field has, in his lifetime done an unbelievable amount of work for the Appalachian Trail.There is a series of books by this publisher; I have many of them, and this book is far-and-away the best in the collection. Dr. Field, like Myron Avery before him, is a man of his time.If you have any interest in the AT, or of Maine, or hiking, or the out-of-doors, you'll want to read this work.

Terrific book! My great uncle was mentioned a number of times and there were pictures and information I had not seen before. Great job.
