First impressions are overrated.
I had the previous Astro a40 Mixamp coupled with Sennheiser p363D headset, and it was the best purchase I made. Only thing wrong with was static in the mic. Which I send it too astro to check the mic, they said nothing was wrong with it. They didnt fix anything and send my amp back. (honestly worse customer support I have dealt with). So I ended up trading it in for Mixamp Tr.I did a lot lot of research on this product and read a lot TRUE bad reviews. The reviews about muffled sound and echoing is VERY MUCH TRUE. Trust me the first thing i wanted to do was return the item. I really wanted to try to adapt but truly after few hours my patience just gave out. So some of you guys are wondering, why I gave this five stars. Trust me, I cant believe it either. The presets Astro tr comes with, like the previous astro mixamps, are TRULY atrocious. The good thing about this mixamp is that you can change the EQ presets by using the Astro command center software. This is something the old astro mixamps could not do. So after few hours of digging on Astro forums, I came across BeastMOde 1.0/ Beastmode 2.0 eq settings created by "XPCT." I currently use beastmode 1.0, and I changed the last two frequency from 3001 to 5000, 7001 to 10000, which was suggest by XPCT. I love the mixamp now.So at the moment I still like the product, the sound (7.1 Dolby turned on), The mic (talking on xbox live is great once again because no one complains anymore). I do want to update later on about whether i kept the product or i returned it. I will update in about 2-3 weeks from 5/3/16.Would I buy it again?Mostly likely not due to the fact that Astro has the WORSE customer support I have dealt with. Especially for a product that cost $130. IF you can find it under $100 definitely worth it.For those who want stereo sound, I would strongly suggest looking into another product. The primary purpose of mixamp TR is to give you a simulated or virtual 7.1 surround sound feeling. I play Halo 5 only, and I can tell you now I'm able to hear where the gunshots, grenades expolsions, and footsteps are coming from.BTW, I came from years of using Turtle beach headsets/amps, which are very poor compared to astro mixamp/sennheiser p363d headset.Update : 5/10/2015- I still like it and have no plans on returning it. works as long as you utilize the custom eq settings. I only use it for xbox one. I had the previous mixamp 2013.

Mic kept cutting out on DAY ONE
I was excited to get the unit at my door! At first glance, you can see that the box was already opened from the stickers that hold box inside the outer case. I unboxed it and hooked it up to my Xbox One X the same night. All evening my teammates were telling me that my mic was cutting in and out... Finally enough was enough and I went back to connecting my headset directly into my controller. What made me more upset is that the sound was great and I bought Dolby Atmos for this unit... sent the MixAmp Pro back today and I’m set back the amount I paid for Atmos when Windows Sonic worked just fine for free.I know ASTRO makes great stuff so I’m not scratching them off my list because of this one experience but I’m extremely bummed that I had to send it back. I get it... I work in the technology hardware industry and people always point the finger at the manufacturer. In some cases they’re right but in other cases, the fault can fall on the vendors for the parts they use to manufacture their product. I got a bad apple from a bad bunch...I’d like to roll the dice and give the MixAmp Pro another shot but I don’t want to risk encountering the same experience simply because I’m lazy. I was almost too lazy to return it! I really wanted to convince myself to keep it for the sound quality and find another way to rig up my mic. That just led to me buying more stuff than I wanted.Very very very sad stuff... I’ll live tho.*MixAmp Pro was in console mode*Used both the OEM optical cable AND a known functional optical cable I had on hand*MixAmp Pro was updated prior to use*Xbox One X settings adjusted per inbox directions*Double checked secure cable connections prior to use

Looks brand new, works great
I wasn't worried about ordering this from the seller at all. Their reviews and rep look good and I'm glad I took the chance on buying this. I've used this MixAmp in the past and I had to buy another one after remembering the quality of it. Some people complained about echo, but maybe the amp was in the wrong mode or missing software from Astro's website. There's no echo or horrible mic monitoring with this. It's one of the best amps I've used. You will have to buy your own cables for this. I almost missed that when purchasing, so here's a note for anyone looking through reviews for this.
