Good performance so far for the money
I've only had this for about a week but so far it has done it's job and I will update after a few months use. Using this with a 50 gallon reef tank with a 15-20 gallon sump so maybe 70 gallons total.I bought this because my tank almost had a full crash when water temps reached 85°. It gets hot here in Texas and having the AC on low all day when I'm not home is just not cost effective. This chiller should pay for itself within a few months if I add up how much it would cost to run the AC.Optimal temp for my tank is 78°. With this unit you can set a temp range so that it cools to a certain temp and then will shut off until the temp reaches a tolerance that you set. I have a two degree tolerance set so I've set the thermostat to 77° (converting from celsius). This means it will run until the tank temp reaches 77° and shut off and then as the water begins to warm it will come back on at 79° and cool to 77°. This way the unit is not constantly running. The two holes at the top of the unit are interchangeable in that either one can be used for inlet and outlet. The unit itself does not have an internal pump so they provide you with an external one to circulate the water. I have the pump in the drain compartment of my sump and the outlet hose in the return compartment. This seems to be enough separation so that it's not cooling water that's already cool. You get enough 1/2" hose to run two 5' runs and two hose clamps.Make sure you leave plenty of empty space around the unit to provide good air circulation. The air coming out of the back is quite warm as it is the heat being pulled from the water. Cool air comes in through the sides. Also don't forget to calibrate the thermostat per the instructions by using a reliable thermometer to measure your tank water and adjusting the unit accordingly. Mine was off by about 2° but was really corrected.

Used as Cold Plunge Tub Chiller
Bought this for my 140 gallon Cold plunge tub. This will cool it down to 38-40 degrees easily depending on what your climate is. I fill my tub to 120 gallons and it consistently stays at 44 degrees. Runs strong and great for any cold plunge tub!

DO NOT BUY THIS!!
ETA: I was supposedly getting help from Amazon, who told me to re-purchase the item and then they would refund that once it arrived. I was assured that there was a note in my file explaining that I was to get a refund for the $450 purchase. However, when I reached out, they rescinded that offer and said they won't be refunding me. I just spent ANOTHER $450 on this chiller, and now I have to return it and wait weeks to get THAT refund from Amazon. In other words, once you're out of the basic Amazon return window, even if it is a very expensive product that should withstand much more than a year of basic use, they will NOT help you! So, again, DO NOT BUY THIS!! Honestly, with Amazon's awful response, I highly recommend going to the actual manufacturer of a better brand instead of purchasing through Amazon. It's what I plan to do.This will work... for a while. Then it stops working, leaving your animals stressed and at risk of death!! At one point, about 7 months into owning this chiller, it suddenly dropped from 62 degrees (F) all the way down to 44!!! My poor axolotls were frozen, and I was afraid they wouldn't make it. Thankfully they did. Now, just as I've hit the one year mark (conveniently where their warranty ceases), the chiller has stopped working two additional times. It has the lights on and is reading 63 degrees, but it is 74 degrees in the tank! It did this a week and a half ago, and I sat down and re-calibrated the machine, got it chilling again, and now it's back to being broken. For over $400, this should NOT be breaking less than a year of use!!! Absolutely a waste of money, and now I can't even find any information on customer service so I can share these issues. This was for my axolotls in my classroom, so guess what teacher now has to drop hundreds of additional dollars on ANOTHER chiller out of pocket because this company couldn't be bothered to make a quality item.

Stopped chilling
Mine won’t chill after barely using it for a month I just connected it not too long ago and I have axolotls that are very sensitive to water and it keeps putting it at 70 degrees when I put it for 67

Great product and service
We bought this instead of a branded cold plunge chiller -- it's exactly the same machine at half the price. We insulated all the tubes and it sits outside, in a shaded area, in the hot hot south. Temperature is always accurate, and it gets the Ice Pod Pro tub cold to 55 in about 6 hours. It stopped cooling effectively after three months but the awesome customer service team replaced it. Now I’m back in the cold plunge and it’s working great!

Wayyyy better than expected. Much colder temps and stable.
It’s a no nonsense product. Connect it, turn on and it just works.Put a hose on the inlet and outlet. Small pump(came with) to circulate water through the chiller. Does not matter which way. I have it set to 70, my temperature probe is a constant 67.

literal life saver!
i got this around 2 months ago and have had no issues with it, pretty easy setup. i have a 40 gallon fresh water tank with an axoltol and honestly it has been a life saver, litterally. today, i forgot to turn my ac on and my room got up to 100°F and if i didn't have this chiller my axolotl would be dead. if you live in an area where it gets very hot in the summers, you need this. it really will save your tank, i used to just put ice in the tank for a quick fix but nothing lasted. this will make sure your water temp never gets too hot, and it'll save you the stress of worrying about your pets while you're away! really worth the money

Great for axolotl
7 months in. This is a great product for an axolotl. I tried fans like others recommended and there is no way fans could keep the temp of my tank correct plus they were loud. You can set the temp below that shown on the listing. I keep my tank 61 on one side and 64 on the other side. The tank is a 60gal. It could go much lower or if I ever decide to get a larger tank it would be no problem, plus very quiet. Very pleased so far.
