Metal Drop Leaf Support

This worked great on a drop leaf dining table with a sagging leaf due to an old wooden support. Replaced the supports and we're back to eating on that side of the table! Easy to install with the provided screws.

There doesn't seem to be all that many choices for sliding drop leaf supports these days. My old sowing machine table has a nice one and that dates back to the early decades of the last century. It's longer than the set being sold by Amazon and stronger, but everything was made from sterner stuff in those days.If you expect to lean on these with both elbows as you read, they will deflect and and depending on your size, might be over stressed by your weight. But if you just want a drop leaf to spread out your books and a light, then these will serve you well. My drop leaves support a 19 by 21 inch white pine extension.

This is an antique table that sat outside for over 2 years. I re-built a new top for the center and the sides are original, then refinished it. Somewhere along the way the system for holding up the 2 sides was removed or fell off. Not sure, so I ordered these drop leaf supports and Bob's your uncle. They work great! I used 2 for each side to make sure it was sturdy. They come 2 in a package, but I ordered 4 because I thought they were sold individually. Good thing I did because one is flipped upside down for some sort of use, I'm not sure how, but would not have worked for me. That is why I gave 4 instead of 5 stars.

These work great! Fyi.. they come in a clear plastic bag with no instructions or diagrams. They come with screws and are super easy to mount. One of the mounting plates had a slight angle to it that made it nearly impossible to pull the other part out. We used a couple thin washers as "shims" between the mounting plate and the board we were attaching it to. Once the washers were in place the sliding part pulled out nicely.

These worked great, i built a desk with a drop leaf, i think one of these supports would have been sufficent, they are very strong. My only issue is that while moving the desk, i have to tape them down so they don't pop open. It would have been nice is they had a clip or something to lock in the closed position. They were larger than i expected. I had to put them on the outer sides of the left so my legs wouldn't accidently scrap them.

Using these for a custom-made drip-leaf table to support an outdoor gas grill. The supports have worked well, slide smoothly, and are fairly rigid. They operate smoothly both to extend and retract. You'll need some room under the table top since these are linear. I offset mine for left and right leaves. No rust in the outdoor environment so far.

It has no lock to keep it from sliding in or out.

Great product! When I ordered, I was worried about strength, as I'm building a fold-out desk and I didn't want to crack my laptop with cheap supports. But these guys are great!!! Super heavy duty steel and not liable to bend under general use
