cooked this risottos style. win.
i didn't follow the package instructions (bad) -- and that was fine. used this for a bon appetit recipe for one-skillet chicken with orzo and vegetables. recipe mirrored cooking time, but the cooking method was more risotto-style (with a pilaf-style frying of the pasta). really happy with how the orzo took to the slow absorption of liquid, how it held its shape, and -- awesome -- took the flavor of the broth and vegetables. the final texture had a bit of chewiness with a lot of creaminess. not always recommending going off the map, but this worked so well.

Great
This is a great alternative for those who need gluten free pasta, it is very similar to regular Orzo. The only negative is that after a few days in the fridge it continues to absorbs the fluid and becomes mushy and less like individual orzo pieces.

Ideal for a low protein diet. I cook it with various additives, corn, green beans, zucchini, carrots, always tasty and interesting.

Strange Texture
Hurray for a gluten free option - I have tried several different cooking times but the texture is a bit sticky and mushy - or under done. I have used this brand before and like it - must be the size of pasta that is the issue.

Happy to find a Gluten Free Orzo option
This was a great substitute for my orzo pasta salad recipe. It was good. The consistency is a little different and does become mushy if not eaten within the day.

Nothing like Orzo
I have used Jovial brown rice pastas for several years and love them. I have never had any issue with them regardless of what recipes I use them in, but I suppose the difference in brown rice vs cassava flour makes a huge difference. I made a pot of chicken soup and added the pasta at the end, letting it simmer off the burner for 15 minutes as I always do, only for the soup to be completely ruined! The orzo thickened the soup and gave it a floury taste and almost slimy texture. I ended up dumping the 10 quarts of one of my favorite soups down the drain after spending an hour and a half cooking! I do not recommend this pasta at all!

Just like regular orzo in soup!
I cant eat gluten anymore and one of my favorite soups is lemon orzo chicken soup. I didn't want to make it with rice, not the same! So I bought this and it's perfect! It's the same as making it with regular orzo. I'm thrilled!
