The Hale Nasal Breathing Aid Starter Kit is a revolutionary product designed to enhance nasal breathing, combat snoring, and improve athletic performance. Developed at Johns Hopkins, this kit includes three sizes of breathing aids, insertion tools, a cleaning cloth, and a portable case. Each aid lasts for 10-15 days, offering a drug-free alternative to medications and nasal strips, while being clinically proven to be effective and comfortable.

Very uncomfortable
I had high hopes for this as evidenced by its not being returnable. A complete waste of money. First, once inserted, it’s painful. No amount of angulation improved the comfort; neither did trying the various sizes. The pain causes the nose to run and you can’t blow your nose without the unit falling out. Application with either of the appliances or two fingers is tricky and time consuming. And it didn’t even do a great job improving the airway—one side with deviated septum, the other with collapse. A total bust; too bad.

I don't write a lot of reviews, but I need to for this one.
I know some people are saying these don't fit or they're comfortable, but they are obviously using them wrong.Do they help? I'm happy to say this is one of those weird contraptions that actually works. Honestly, I'm kind of weirded out about how much better my overall breathing is. It's kind of nuts.Do they feel funky? At first, ya. But not uncomfortable. Reminds me more like when I first got glasses, they weren't uncomfortable, just wasnt used to that new light pressure on my nose.Just know that if they hurt, then you probably did something wrong, like I did. But once you get it right, oh man, I simply can't go through my day or night anymore without them/it.

Doesn't work
My husband used it for 1 week and there has been no change. The piece keeps falling out (he is using the largest size available) and no, he does not have a big nose. Last time it fell out, we found it in the bed broken. Non-returnable, wish I had read the details sooner.

Not Like Description
First of all the photo they show you shows them rather invisible in use. The elastic strap that holds the to pieces together is constantly pulling them out of your nose. They are visible from the start. If you can get them to stay in your nose they are very uncomfortable and do the same thing as the nose strips that go on the outside of your nose. Personally the nose strips work better and are more comfortable. They say it takes a while for them to break in yet they expect you to replace them after 10 to 15 days. Don't waste your money as they are not returnable. I'll be going with the nose strips.

Works!
I have been losing sleep every night, primarily because I can’t get enough air in through my nostrils and I wake up gasping for air. They seem to swell up at night. Whether that’s actually happening or not the nasal strips have been helping up until the past few weeks. I found the Hale inside-the-nostril devices while seeking a solution and decided to give them a try. They arrived yesterday and last night was my initial usage. The instructions said a lot about getting used to them over a period of time but I just inserted and crawled into bed. My first impression was that they were easier to use and seemed to be even more effective than nasal strips. They worked great and were comfortable from the git-go.Negatives? The starter kit is very nice but overkill in my opinion. And, while you get three of the devices, they are different sizes and it’s likely only one will fit. This is all well and good but I haven’t yet found followup “refill” sets of one size. If their plan is to force the customer to buy only starter kits then I’ll find an alternative brand. If, however, they do provide refill kits then I’ll stick with these as they really worked well.

Worth it despite the downsides.
I read a bunch of reviews of nasal dilators on this product as well as several others before deciding to buy something, and I chose this one because it was designed by doctors. I believe this to be both true, and worthwhile.Generally, the reason this product has a 3 star rating is because it is uncomfortable to wear. I 100% understand this point of view - the little clasp shaped object that acts as the dilator is made from hard plastic, with the side of the device that touches the inside of your nose being coated in a layer of rubber. The edge of the rubber doesn't completely cover the edge of the hard plastic, so if the device is too large for your nose, or if you squish and scrunch up your nose while sleeping, it can be, at the very best, uncomfortable, and, at the very worst, quite painful. That said, I think it is worth trying. I sleep on my stomach, and the first couple nights I used it, it was a bit uncomfortable, bordering on painful. However, after a few days, I seem to have acclimated to it, and it is no longer noticeably uncomfortable. If you sleep on your back, you might not feel any discomfort at all.The biggest annoyance beyond comfort is that it can be confusing trying to get the dilator into your nose correctly. I realized a few days in that the "top" of the object is the side of the rubber band that has a little dimple on it. So you want to put it in your nose with the dimple on the clear rubber band pointing outward. All of that out of the way, the dilator itself works great. I have aggressively annoying sinuses that close up for absolutely no reason constantly, and while this can't pry them open, it helps to at least keep one of my nostrils always open so I can breathe while I sleep. For the past few months, my sleep quality had been declining to the point where I was lucky to get 6 hours at night, and sometimes my sinuses would close and I just simply didn't get to sleep. Finally, with this dilator, I have returned to a sleep pattern approaching normal.Being able to sleep is honestly worth the discomfort, is what I'm trying to say. The dilator itself works exactly the way it is intended, stays firmly in the nose, and improves the length and quality of sleep. If you have found that nasal strips aren't strong enough to keep your nose open (or if you can't wear them because your skin is too oily, like me), this device will be.
