Excellent!
As our firm began remote work, fairly abruptly at the beginning of the pandemic like everyone else, we have only recently moved to a hybrid setting. We have floundered a bit to say the least. Jill Duffy’s guidance in maneuvering the ins and outs of it all has been a great resource. My colleagues and I found this book to be a delightful, informative read with many helpful ideas and tips. Thank you! Highly recommend!!

Very useful if you’re full or hybrid telework.
After over two years of telework I’m still trying to get my head around it. My office is on hybrid work regime and this book came to be very useful. It tells you how to deal with technical aspects as well as human relationship side of telework. Highly recommended.

Let Jill Duffy help you build a new normal
I dunno how to measure social change but it feels like living through this moment in history means a lot of shifting norms (more than usual? I feel like yes but maybe the invention of the birth control pill or the nuclear bomb was more momentous). Shifting norms are exciting: too often I feel like change is impossible to achieve but shifting norms means we HAVE to change. But that change can go either direction — your new normal could be better! But it could also be a dystopian hellscape!Enter Jill Duffy. You are clacking away at a keyboard trying to stay afloat and you need Jill Duffy to give you the thoughtful Birds Eye view of what your new normal could and should look like so that you don’t, in your haste to do a thousand and one small tasks, make yourself and everyone you work with miserable by creating a new normal where you need to answer the phone at 2am or have drawn out zoom meetings that could have been an email, or never get a chance to digest food because you are eating while you work, or get so overwhelmed with tasks and guilt that you should be working on other tasks that you end up living that life of quiet desperation people are always talking about.Create a new normal that is healthy and sane and let Jill Duffy advise you. She was working remotely years before Covid and has a serious head start thinking about all this (plus her thought process began, you know, NOT during a state of emergency so she is more trustworthy than people who came up with plans while constantly putting out fires). The question is not Are you going to create a new normal. You are. The question is are you going to unconsciously allow yourself to build your own hell (this is what every character on HBO’s Succession does) or are you going to, in conjunction with reading this book and taking notes in it as you go, be mindful of how you are approaching your job which is a pretty big part of your life!

Great guide if you're just starting remote work
I'm working on a research paper about the benefits of remote working and found Jill Duffy's book. I wish I had this a couple years ago! It truly does cover EVERYTHING you need to know - why it's beneficial, how to set up your space, how to communicate effectively, a lot of why and how to have meetings, staying productive, avoiding different types of burnout, self care, and so much more.As someone who struggled to become adjusted to working remotely at the beginning of the pandemic, I can confirm that this book is an absolute must to set yourself up to be successful from the start. Even if remote work is not new to you, I'm sure you can pick up a few things or new strategies.

Easy to use as a reference
Duffy definitely follows her own advice and writes using plain language, and clearly explains new concepts, which I appreciated. What I most appreciated was how well organized this book was. It was very easy to find relevant chapters and chapter parts. I didn't really need the sections on looking for a remote job, for example. I dove right into the ergonomics and making the workspace work section, and I was glad to see she offered fixes that didn't break the bank, which I'm definitely going to try. I also particularly appreciated the chapter on breaks and scheduling (and cutting yourself some slack!). There is a lot of useful information in here, and it's definitely something I'm glad to have a hard copy of so I can reference it as needed.

Nuggets of knowledge even for veteran remote workers
As someone who transitioned fairly successfully from office to remote work, I thought there might not be much for me to glean from this book. But actually, it helped me self-reflect about how to examine my now-hybrid work situation as the future of my career instead of just a temporary position, inspiring me to make immediate changes. If I were a supervisor or another type of leader in a company or organization, I would have added even more items to my to-do list after reading this.

Amazing
This book takes an empathetic approach and gives bite size approaches and allows you to have kindness and patience with yourself when dealing with life. This is so necessary for everyone to read in life. Highly recommend. Especially loved the reflection to true life to humanize my feelings and relate. I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily.
