Sound cuts in and out
Was super wonderful at first. I was gifted a VTech baby monitor that did this same thing. It would cut in and out of sound at random. It's not too far away by any means. I ordered this one because it was driving me nuts. Another VTech with better reviews. Doing the same thing after 3 days of use. Sound is cutting in and out and it's really annoying. Cut out this morning and I didn't hear my baby start to fuss at all and made it so she was madder than normal and woke up her and her sister from sleeping. I don't know what is causing the sound gaps but VTech should invest in fixing this from all their products.

Excellent audio baby monitor
Love these baby monitors. We now have three different vtech baby monitors all different model types. We have been using them for three years and through two kids. We did have one of them (this model DM271) that broke after 3 months of usage but filed warranty claim with vtech and they sent us a newer model free of charges. Was a bit cumbersome to file the warranty claim but ultimately they stayed true to their word and replaced it free of charge. Our daughter loves the model with the lullaby which unfortunately they no longer make new versions of.

Not for use with Elderly!
Bought to use for parent with dementia...DOESN'T work for this. While it may be a great baby monitor (able to hear voices) but very poor in vibrations and movement!

Needs work.
I wanted to love this. I love all the features, the door sensor is such a nice add on and my kids loved the projector. I had to return it two times though. The baby unit on the first one stopped working a few minutes after setup. The parent unit on the replacement I received stopped working after a few days. I called. Tech customer service both times and they were unable to troubleshoot either problem.

Sound is clear and the door alert is awesome!
We have a 12 year old autistic son and he doesn’t sleep at night . We love the alert that’s sound when he opens and shuts his door, also it keeps a log of date and time when the door opens and shuts, so that way we know when he has gotten up. The sound quality is clear , over all we are very happy with this.

Good for Remote Task and Monitoring Temperature
Works as advertised. I particularly appreciate the features of remote talk into the room being monitored and monitoring of the temperature.

Don’t pay more for a downgrade. Avoid.
This item has no improvement over its predecessor (vetch dm221) besides a modern look. It mostly lacks features and/or has problems which the prior version did not have.1. Doesn’t have the loop/hanger on top. This forces you to hold the parent unit on the sides which invariably leads to clicking the talk button.2. The prior version has the same power adapter for both the parent unit and the monitor. This new version has two different power adapters. This is more of an annoyance than a problem.3. The battery level always shows at the lowest bar, even after charging all night. We even returned the first one we bought because of this problem but it persisted with the second unit we got as well.4. It cannot save the date and time, likely due to the same issue causing the battery to always show low. So every time you turn on the parent unit, it prompts you to set location and time. The new planetarium/lullaby and door sensor features do not make up for the poor physical design and flawed circuitry of this baby monitor.
