Some negativity in other reviews but if you understand firmly that this is NOT a replica of the spell book that appears in the movie, there is a lot to love for hocus pocus fans. The best way to describe it is a cross between a colour illustrated book and a recipe book. Yes there are real ‘spells’ but also many full colour illustrations throughout, alongside mock ‘notes’ from the Sanderson Sisters themselves. In essence it’s a movie tie in that is often on the comedic side and if you love the culture and folklore we were introduced to in the movie you will find lots to love. There are approx 240 pages and it’s clearly inspired by New England in the 1600’s. If you’re looking for something a bit more dark and serious though or a prop to put out for Halloween, this is probably not for you.
