Lowest price coconut coir on Amazon - GREAT QUALITY PRODUCT - Repeat buyer!
It doubles in size after you add water. It is BETTER than potting soil and very nutrient dense for growing plants. This product HOLDS MOISTURE in the soil better and longer than conventional potting soil - so it is good for water conservation. I spent HOURS researching the best price and this is the best deal. I am a long time loyal customer and will buy it again and again. Coconut coir has everything you need to grow crops. I do not have a car and got fed up dragging heavy bags of potting soil home from the store in rolling carts. Because this is a dehydrated product it is lightweight. This is MUCH BETTER for the environment that potting soil - most potting soil is NOT from renewable green sources - such as peat moss which is dug up from the ground in a destructive non-environmental manner - peat moss takes about a century to create - it is from ancient peat bogs in the ground and dug up to sell as peat moss. Perlite in potting soil is heated at around 800 degrees and TERRIBLE carbon footprint. Coconut coir is the shell and hairy fibers on the shell which left over after fresh coconut is harvested and cracked open for processing as a food product. Buy purchasing Coconut coir we are eliminating WASTE by using the shell for a good purpose.

Worked great
Overall, I'm very happy with this product. The water absorption/brick expansion wasn't instantaneous like other brands I've used, but in 10-15 minutes it's ready to go. Instead of adding 4-5 quarts of water as suggested, I found that using 2 quarts gave me the ideal moisture level I needed. The resulting product, which for me is the most important factor, consists of fine particules, light and airy, with no big chunks. It mixes easily with potting soil, and is a perfect addition for dirt that's too wet.

Coconut peat moss
This stuff worked great to start my cuc, tomato, zucchini, butternut squash all from seeds. It hold the water for almost 2 weeks without having to water them. Easier than dragging a big bag if dirt from the store. You do have to mix in some fertilizer or some other nutrient. I had a bag left over of gardening started and it wasn’t moist anymore I added that. Worked great.

Compost toliet
I live in a Tiny House without septic or sewer. I'm 74, female in decent health and mobility, but no spring chicken either. I use these only in my toliet, about 1 1/2 bricks each change, which is about 2 weeks. 2 weeks is probably shorter than most need to change the pot out. I had a surgery that left me with half of my large intestine so I "go" twice as much as I would otherwise. Odor issues; there is a slight woodsy odor which is not at all unpleasant but there is a fan attached to the pot that pulls the air out. No noticeable odor outside that I can tell and no neighbors have complained. I do have to properly dispose of tissue paper or else I will get a urine odor, so that involves placing tissue into a trash can and then emptying it. No big deal. The urine catcher has to be emptied more often. It has a seal thing on the neck that prevents spillage and therefore odor as well. My kids and grandkids live 400 feet away so I can dump urine in their system. The poop pot is different. When time to change, I simply put a kitchen tall plastic garbage bag over the top, turn it upside down and you cannot believe how cleanly everything comes out, leaving a sorta clean pot. If it's not raining I just turn the hose on it to clean out the odd coconut bits. If I have to cause of weather, I can skip the cleaning, and still no odor. I place this in the trash and so I do have to plan change out day accordingly to trash pick up days. I'm tempted to use gopher holes for the urine as I have observed males using the ground outdoors as a toliet on more than one occasion. It rains a lot here. I have not been tempted to use the pot contents as fertilizer for my large garden even though this IS a custom in some cultures and even though it looks like you could use it for that. I hope this helps someone. Oh, the pot does get heavy, so mom or grandpa should be able to lift 30 pounds or so for a very short time, or be really good at leveraging, or just help them out with this part.

Really refined coir, Great product!
Once wet these quickly separate and are really easy to use. I make my own seed starting mix (7 parts coir, 2 parts pearlite and 1 part vermiculite). With this coir I don't even have to sift it! Love that it come in small blocks so I don't have to make a wheelbarrow at a time!
