We have a standard size tub/shower in our guest bathroom, which has a shower curtain and worked out okay with the soap dish sticking out. Now, we are remodeling that bathroom to have a glass panel in place of the shower curtain, which reduces the comfort of the shower with the soap dish sticking out. I decided to go with a recess, but did not want to deal with having to tile the recess, so this stainless steel recess fit the bill - especially since the theme of the new remodel is brushed nickel. If you are not doing new construction, then be warned that the installation is a lot of work - but that would have been true with any insert. Just so you know what you are getting into, you will want to remove the tile, cement board, and wall across two studs and add cross beams that are the height of the insert. Then you will want to put in two new studs that are the width of the insert. This will be your cave. Next, replace the wall, seal all the seams of the cave and the new wall, apply waterproof membrane to both the wall and the cave. Then, you will want to replace the cement board to the wall that you removed with screws and thin set and seal the seams with thin set. Then you will retile the new cement board. Finally, you will install the insert in the cave with silicon adhesive sealant around the lip.

This thing is easy to install and looks great. Would recommend.
