A great CCTV camera with some nice touches
I’ve had one of the new Anran indoor/Outdoor pan and tilt Wi-Fi cameras for a week now and these are my findings.Whilst the total package is not 100% perfect much of this conclusion is directed towards a need to expand the instruction manual rather than a criticism of the actual camera itself. I also had a glitch one morning when the app simply froze but this lasted only a few hours and has not happened since. I believe the developers of this app are looking into this. The camera however continued to record. It matters not whether you buy a basic Mini or a top of the range Porsche, it’s a machine and things do go wrong at times just so long as the manufacturer is proactive and sets out to put things right, Anran appear to do so.So, to begin. This camera comes very well packaged but not over the top. At first glance you get the impression of a very sturdy and well-built piece of equipment, something that will withstand the rigors of any weather. The instruction booklet supplied is easy to follow with a step-by-step guide that has your camera up and running in a matter of minutes. It is from this point however that I feel greater guidance is necessary, especially for anyone who is installing a CCTV camera for the first time. With the app loaded on your phone it’s just a matter of working through each element in order to both familiarise oneself with every aspect and to tailor these to your personal requirements. For those less inquisitive, further guidance in the instruction manual would be helpful. Perhaps a page or two with an image of the appropriate symbol and an explanation alongside as to its use might be an easy solution. There are, no doubt, those who may not be familiar with ‘PTZ’ or how to mask off areas not needed and therefore not get to grips with the remote movement of this camera unless they simply press and hope. An assumption that everyone is as clued up as those who manufacture a product is not the best approach. All of that said for anyone struggling then the Anran technical support department is first class.Well, that’s the negative bit out of the way. The camera itself is a dream to use. Remote pan and tilt are very impressive, how did we manage without it. The camera lens supplies a very impressive picture quality along with sound. I chose to use a 128GB micro-SD card, purchased separately, for recording rather than subscribe to the cloud storage and from my experience with other cameras this size of SD card provides a more than adequate time frame of storage. Once full it simply writes over so no need to keep formatting it. A nice touch with this camera is the strobe light, affective only at night but then why would you want it during the daytime. It is also supposed to have a built-in alarm that sounds when the strobe light is turned on. I didn’t find this with my particular camera, fortunately, as my dog is very much noise adverse, and it would have sent her scurrying for the back door. A nice touch here would be the option to turn this alarm off or on to suit individual needs but leave the strobe light to come on as normal. Over several evenings I have monitored the operation of the strobe light in both low, medium, and high sensitivity settings and whilst in low setting the light rarely came on, I didn’t really note much difference in the time it took to come on between medium and high. My conclusion therefore is that perhaps the strobe light feature would benefit if the sensitivity could somehow be increased in order to cover a distance of, let us say 5 to 8 meters, and be more instant. If and how this might be achieved I’m sure Anran technical people will be able to solve. So that’s about it. In a nutshell a great CCTV camera at a reasonable price that allows you to monitor your home from a mobile phone no matter where you are. Would I recommend it? Most certainly.

Great quality fantastic value and it works 100%
I bought this after buying the solar powered version at the front of the house. I work abroad a lot so my wife wants to be able to monitor the back garden also. This has all the features of the more extension and more as its tracks your movement. So easy to install you get a template for the dill holes with a screws and plugs. Set it up before you fit it to the wall trust me on that as you will have to hold your phone in front of the camera on a ladder in mid air. If you don’t hurt yourself you will at least look like a plonker. Night vision is great and tracks all movement 24/7 don’t bother with the subscription as long as you have a 128gb SD card you can view back weeks. Great quality buy this for piece of mind and cheap home monitoring. Tip wait for it to be reduced as it’s happens 4 or 5 times a year

Great product. Excellent customer service.
After purchasing this over a month ago I initially left a review stating camera had failed after 3-4weeks and customer support weren't very helpful.I received a full refund and was contacted by Tom at ANRAN support. He explained that he needed to make amends for the less than usual high standard of support. After explaining that all was good and I was happy with my refund he went on offer me a replacement camera completely free of charge! I thought there would be some sort of catch to but there wasn't. I received a replacement 2 days later and the camera is up and running perfectly. You can't get any better than that. I would highly recommend these guys and their excellent products.

Easy to set up but some controls are not available - and repeated false alarms when it rains!!
To be clear i already had 2 Anran products both are solar powered, both come with their own issues, all be it minor ones [in the S02 and Q1 max - mainly the time delay in recording being 8-10 seconds so they can miss vital data]so i have opted to beef up my security with the mains powered P3 max - it was relatively simple to set up and i use the free ANRAN APPThe camera itself works well, BUT it has faults that really do need to be resolvedFirst up the pictures [and video's] online and on Amazon show a short cable from the camera [perhaps 10-12 inches long] with a round connector that has a much longer cable to the plug / power adapter.mine has a longer cable perhaps 2.5 to 3m long with a USB fitting, this meant that the hole i needed to drill through my garage was probably twice the size i had anticipated due to the much wider USB connector - not what i expected. Then we have sensitivity issues, on the P3 MAX it is simply high, medium or low - just 3 settings and yet on the Q1 and SO2 solar models their is a 1-10 sensitivity setting scale - so far high and medium on the P3 is too sensitive so now i have set it to low - i do not understand why we have gone from 1-10 down to just 3 sensitivity settingsthen we have sound!!! that is an issue for me. i want recordings without sound. in the Q1 and SO2 camera's i can turn off the sound meaning i get footage only But with this P3 max version there is NO ABILITY to turn off the sound. this means you can hear the PTZ motor running when it tracks - furthermore the sound is not in sync with the video play-back which is at best disorientating [via the app].Video play-back via the APP is SLOW - this is a issue with all 3 cameras - the video plays back at about half speed whilst the sound is closer to actual speed. however if i transfer the video's to my PC, they play back at normal speed. that suggest to me this is an Anran app issue! i can tolerate the play-back speed being slow, it does help in some ways to see people that trigger the camera, for a little longer. The image when set to 5mp is pretty decent too.i like this camera but i DO NOT LIKE the inability to record without sound, and more importantly the lack of sensitivity control compared to the two solar powered units is poor feature. - for that i am hitting the star rating quite harshly. BUT to be fair it is a budget camera capable of doing a decent job and you do not have to subscribe to cloud storage. you can use the free Anran APP AND store everything to SD card [not provided] i use 64 and 128gb cards in my cameras and if i need to save and store any footage i simply pop out the card, transfer it to PC and pop the card back in!!it is also a good idea once in a while to use the PC to clear down old data -whist you can delete footage via the app, and you think it has gone it does leave day markers on the SD card that will take up space [all be it very small indeed], so using the PC to remove them is a better option. this does not need to be done often. i did mine the other day on the two solar units after i had to provide footage to the police following an attempted burglary and i found over 1000 pieces of data on each camera, that are best removed to keep the card clean as possible. They took very little space but just left a lot of files on the SD - just to put this into perspective, with a 128gb sd card i have never dropped below about 110gb free space, so you DO NOT need to use a large capacity card , i just find 128gb more cost effective than say a 32gb card. So, Decent Camera, but with a lack of controls in certain area'sADDENDUM - the camera has been in place for a few days now and the lack of sensitivity control is a problem. i have the camera set on the lowest sensitivity mode and yet the camera continues to operate in the middle of the night when nothing is there, so sending out repeated false alarms to the APP and thus my phone. this appears to be more noticeable when we have a little rain and the camera does not know what to look at, it is literally looking all over, from left to right, up, down even back at the garage door [the camera is mounted just above the garage door] and acting like a robot that is lost and frustrated and so is spinning on the spot!!. i am now beginning to regret making this purchaseAddendum 2:- a little rain last night, and despite camera being on low sensitivity AND on humanoid detection only i had a total of 25+ false alerts - the camera does not know what to look at. There is nothing actually there, and despite being set for 1minute recording times, the camera has been on and recording between 1 and 20 minutes per alert. EATING UP the space on my SD card. This needs to be resolved. An Anran operative wants to send me a new but solar powered camera, that is all well and good but i opted for wired because of the time delays with Solar models. however said camera has not yet arrived! What i need is a wired camera that works as intended - this unit does not work as intended when it starts to rain. It is pointless and useless as a security camera unless it is dry outside!!! i suggest you look elsewhere for a camera and not at this Anran product!
