Easy to install if your the type of guy who doesn't use lotion

Had to modify to fit a 55gal drum but it does what I needed it to do!

Perfect fit, easy to install. Made a huge difference on my cook

Bought for my husband for Christmas, he seems happy with it. We haven't put it on the smoker yet. I wish a small can of heat resistant paint came with it to save us a trip to the hardware store and so he could have put it on right away. Otherwise, to be expected.

This is a must if you want to control the heat in your smoky mountain cooker. the stock door is crap and Webber should be ashamed.

0/10 would not buy again0/10 would not recommend companyNot impressed with the product, or the company customer service.Product arrived very nicely rusted which required thorough cleaning and a generous amount of rust removal (did you keep it outside during rainy season…go outside every day and squirt it with a hose?…anyway); not a big issue and the company does have a disclaimer the items will need to be cleaned and painted. As you will see if you read further down the company is very good at disclaimer so be very caution…most actions void the warranty and make any issue your problem…more on that later.So I got the parts, and got all the rust removed and painted up nicely, feeling rather proud of my handywork and super excited to install this door on my smoker.Followed the instructions to the letter as I was about to drill holes in my $500 smoker. Got everything tapped and mounted and holes punched and drilled and everything was going amazing…joy to the world I am smoker modifying hero!Then the first of the sadness and frustration, the door is not the right size, or the frame; regardless the door doesn’t work…well to be more accurate the latch doesn’t work (see attached picture).No biggie right, I usually only buy from 4.5. to 5 star companies and products so they will take care of me…right? Off to the part of Amazon that lets me ask questions to supplies. “Hello nice company, I think there is a problem with your product…the door latch doesn’t work.” Quick reply from the company so I am off to a good start…right? Pfft, nope, it was a trick. “Hello customer we are sorry for this…clearly it is a one-off issue…send us even more pictures.” Umm…ok sure…here are more pictures.Few days go by, so I have to follow up…”what’s going on here nice company”…then the first of the “well Mr. customer you painted it which usually voids the warranty as it is now “modified” (*note above mention of disclaimer) and Mr. customer that is why we recommend you install everything first then take it all off and fiddle with it, then put it all back together again”…because our quality control is crappy and we have disclaimers in place to screw you and protect us.This all started over a week ago and what I have now is a smoker with holes and a poorly constructed door that doesn’t close and a “we are checking with our technicians for the past few days”. Whoop-De-DoI am feeling the love here, poor quality control, vague threats of a modified product and voided warranty…and a smoker with holes drilled in it because I was silly enough to believe LavaLock being able to either give me a product I could use, or make it right.So, if you are lucky enough to get a door that fits, yay for you…if not…good luck!

I’m pretty disappointed. This is not $100 worth of an upgrade. The gaps are notable — as much as 3/16” and while RTV is included, that’s unacceptable for something that is probably being cut by a precision machine.Moreover, the welds are pretty bad and are already corroding despite the unit just coming out of the box.I’m a carpenter and it took me about 20 minutes to install with higher end tools and that’s a net positive, I presume. But I would have just kept the factory door and bought a gasket had I known how sloppy the construction of this unit is.
