Great tool with many uses.
This item works great. I use it when I go camping to warn me if anything comes near like...BEARS! It is ruggedly made and can be attached to any tree easily. If you want more or loose any of the hardware it comes with you can find more at a hardware store. The primers can be found at an outfitters store or gun store. They are as loud as a fire cracker. There are may things you could use this for like protecting your garden from getting eating by a deer. They will not see the small trip wire and will hopefully be scare off as well as warn you. Speaking of trip wire. Get something tough like fishing line which comes in various strengths and colors. There are also sewing threads and strings out there. Something I have been thinking about trying is seeing if it will light the fuse of fire works. Like a brick of fire crackers or maybe even a mortor. Not starting a fire in the process is always a concern!!! And make sure your not breaking any laws if you use them. Anyway I think that would scare any unwanted critter and even people from your camp while you are away. Some of those motors can be heard several miles away. I feel it is reasonably priced. In ending. This is a great tool to have with many uses. Just use your imagination.

Simple and effective
This device couldn't be easier to use. Takes standard 209 shotgun primers. I plan to try with 57 size primers also.

Will not fire does not work
The mechanism itself works correctly the functions of it. however the plunger does not work correctly it hits dead center of the powder load and collapses the center it should hit on the edge because a 22 powder load is a rimfire so it will not work the way it's built.

Works like a charm!
Purchased 2 of these. One for the yard and one for the garden. One keeps the stray dogs out of the yard and the other keeps the deer out of the garden. My neighbors dog no longer visits our yard to poo. And the deer no longer raid our garden. It only took one time for each. Extremely loud and effective. Great product. Just warn your neighbors before, they thought I took a shot at their dog. I Would never do that. So again use with caution. Anyways thanks for the great product.Update: I’ve had these for quite awhile now and they continue to work with out fail. The 209 primers are cheap, but a little hard to find sometimes. Even works great with black powder/muzzle loader primers. Again great great product and recommend purchasing. Please handle with care, can cause serious injury.

Designed WRONG!
I bought two of these, from two different companies. Both ads SHOW the identical item, but I did not receive two alike. This one was exactly like the picture ad, but did not work consistently. In fact, once out of five as an average! The firing pin is the problem. Hopefully you can see my picture explaining that. The part of the 209-shotgun primer that CAN be hit and will contact the internal anvil (THAT's what makes it go boom, that impact setting off the primers fulminate of mercury) is only .1525" WIDE! The supplied "firing pin" is a flat surface ranging (on my two) from .206" to .220". It would only impact the outside edges of the primers. When they did go off, it was surely an accident. I modified the firing pin on my lathe (a power drill and file AND PATIENCE could do it) to provide a proper pin shape and size. Once that was done, everything else worked great, EVERY TIME!
