This is a brilliant bit of kit
I have been really, really impressed with this desoldering station. It heats up quickly, it has great suction and is easy to take apart and clean. Out of the box, I was up and running in less than a couple of minutes and removing components like a champion. Is this essential? No, not really. You can obviously remove components by adding fresh solder and using a soldering iron. You can also use desoldering braid. However, the desoldering station is so ridiculously easy to use and very effective, that it gets the job done much, much quicker. My use case was for recapping old Amigas & general PCB repair, so on a day-to-day basis I'm not removing components all that often. However, the time saved and the neatness of the removal is worth its weight in gold. I would recommend this to any electronics tinkerer. You won't be disappointed.

for the price it is very good value for money
Very fast delivery from the supplier. On receipt the machine was very well packed, two boxes with the inner box surrounded by balloon packaging. Supplied are two mains leads, one EU and one UK, temperature lead from base unit to handgun and one vaccuum pipe. In a bag are three, of various size, cleaning rods for handgun, three spare filters for the solder tube, one larger filter and hose attachment for vaccuum tube connection to base unit, also a replacement filter for the main vaccuum pipe. The instructions mentios to ensure the user removes four screws from the base holding the air pump in situ whilst in transit. Not to remove them could lead to air pump damage. After inspection both outside and in I concluded these transit screws are no longer used. I did, however, discover a rubber boot of the air pmp loose from the base screw, easliy fixed. So, worth a glance inside before use.Use - The machine itself works very well indeed. I run mine on 300 deg. Centigrade and find the solder softens in about 1 second and doesn't clog the nozzle enters the solder chamber without issue. The nozzles, one fitted and two in a bag, all different sizes. Note, the two in the bag appear not to be drilled whereas they are but solder conceals the holes. Just place on gun and heat, press trigger and the hole appears. This is not mentioned in manual. The solder chamber, on mine, is a little tricky to remove for cleaning as the release button is rather stiff, I'm sure with time this will ease. All in all, for the price it is very good value for money. The warranty is for twelve months although spares are easy to obtain. No more solder pump or braid, yippee!

Quality and performance for the budget conscious
Set the scene - I am an Electronics professional and Chartered Engineer. After much research I bought this desoldering station 2 weeks ago and have used it quite frequently over that time for small jobs involving replacing 2 or 3 components at a time. My previous experience of desoldering stations has been the professional end of the market, ie Weller, which are many many times the price of this tool!I have been very pleased with how well the Duratool performs. It heats up rapidly and the temperature control is precise, so the risk of board damage is minimised. In many cases the component just drops out without the need to apply any persuasion.Three interchangeable nozzles of different sizes to suit component leads. It is a small but noticeable thing, but the vacuum and power cables to the hand tool are very flexible and don't interfere with your working. This nice touch of quality is rare nowadays.Spares and consumables are easily available from several sources. My only niggle is that the iron holder is a bit hit and miss.

Loud but effective
The passive cooling fan is loud but the pump is even louder. The gun itself gets hot after around 20 minutes at 320c. I paused for 10 minutes, allowing it to cool. The pump cannot be used at night - it's just too loud. It is relatively easy to clog the barrel by failing to draw extra air in after sucking solder. Catching it early is easy because the pump noise changes due to the increased pressure. It's pretty easy to use.

Great beginner option.
Took a bit to get used to, but I found my temp and I'm flying. Upped my game so much.Comes with plenty of pokey cleaney rods too.I have friends who have ditched this in favour of a the hakko unit, but as a first unit, being able to replace the hand piece, and have a sturdy unit+stand is just fantastic, and the price is right.Great suction on the thing. I have some really old wafer-thin PCBs that were being destroyed by my solder iron and were far too small to wick up with solder braid. This thing cleared out an hour's work in maybe 5 minutes. Even the solder blobbed away in tiny flush holes is reachable.

Great time saving machine for any electronics engineer
After searching around for a while for a an easy solution to desolder joints quickly and easily - especially changing analogue sticks on controllers I came across this machine - I was a bit dubious about the price as everywhere else it was going for about £100 +. so i ordered it and it turned up fairly quickly with the xmas and new year post times.. The machine was a bit bigger than i expected but i guess more for my money... The gun itself is ok but i guess could have been made a bit better and sturdier but it does the job, The filter is pretty naff and just crumbles when you remove the old solder so I will have to try and get some more of those.. The machine itself is great and does the job well, time will tell when i do more and more analogue stick replacements... The customer service from the seller is great and very helpful with all questions answered and speedy response... its a great price for what you get so i would certainly recommend this machine..
