Make My Acoustic Violin Sounds Better
I don't know what happened, but I can significantly differentiate the sound of my acoustic violin before and after I installed this bridge (in acoustic mode) and it sounds better after I installed this LR Baggs Violin Pickup. My violin is an old 1830 strad copy that is quite beaten up.My older bridge was thinner, shorter and the little feet were adjustable. The LR Baggs Violin Pickup bridge is thicker (which I like), taller and does not have adjustable feet (it'll work just fine). So, I had to get some sand paper from a local store to 'shave' the bridge height. Here's what I used:1. Soldering iron and lead-free solder2. Scissors (to trim the thin cable)3. Knife and sand paper4. Some patienceIt took me about 2 hours to get the bridge installed. But it was worth it and I would do it again in a heart beat. Please make sure to pay attention to the manual. The pickup itself works beautifully and is quite sensitive, even to the staccato and the bow's movement, specially when it touches the string. Really, it's like attaching a high quality mic onto the violin. I also use LR Baggs Para Acoustic DI 5-Band EQ which works great with the pickup. Overall, I'm very happy with this purchase.

Calidad vs Operatividad
Facilita la transmisión de señal. Castiga las frecuencias medias y un poco las graves. Lo hace un poco nasal, casi como un violín eléctrico. Pero alivia a los sonidistas.

One of the better ways to electrify
This thing is fantastic. It is way better than your run-of-the-mill pickup; for one thing it can't fall out of the bridge like most do occasionally, it doesn't mute the sound, and I never get any feedback. I originally intended to put this bridge on my nice violin (for classical) and have it be an all-purpose instrument; however, my luthier advised against this, saying the thicker bridge slightly changes the tone of your violin. I therefore opted to get a cheaper "show" violin to install it on to use with my band. Once electrified, you can't really tell the difference anyway. I use it with the L.R. Baggs Acoustic DI, and couldn't be happier!2017 Update: After a few years with this I decided to drop a star. The luthier was correct, not only does the thicker bridge affect the tone of the violin, but attaching the jack to the side is unsightly, changes the tone a bit, and scratches up the side a little. You really don't want to put this on a high end violin you would use classically, and is best used at an intermediate level. Also, the bridge warped after a few years of use, which has never happened to one of my bridges in the 30 years I've been playing so I know it's the product and not my technique. I've since put a different pickup on my nice violin so I haven't invested any money upgrading the pickup on my beater; however I still use it for seriously rough gigs (i.e. remote desert festivals). This bridge still works to electrify my instrument even warped and bent over, but obviously the acoustic sound is really bad now. I'm not so rude as to advertise another product on this seller's page, but let's just say better alternatives for professionals has entered the market since my original review in 2009. I give it 4 stars because I think it's still in the top 5, and it's the perfect place to start if you're just getting into electrifying your instrument.
