Good Product!
I've been feeding this food to my best friend Hondo for about 3 months now and he's lost a couple of pounds (He's about 19 lbs now down from 21.5). That is good because I do feed him other types of foods along with his dog food, so this is working whereas other low fat, low calorie brands were not helping. I appreciate the fact that this food has a lot of fiber along with lower calories and fat. Hondo gets two chuncks of freeze dried liver on top of his food, and some days he gets an egg or boiled chicken. He will wait to see if he gets the egg or chicken first and if he doesn't, then he eats the dog food. He is very healthy, never sick, and his coat is soft and shiny. As other reviewers have mentioned, Hondo does get some bad cases of gas that will clear the room, but I'm sure that is because of the high fiber content. I think this is a good product!

She's a new dog at 16 y/o!
My Rat Chi gained so much weight people said she looked like a loaf of bread. She didn't want to go for walks. A few weeks after eating only Fat Dogs, you can see her ribs again. Now she whines and runs around until I take her for a walk! Thank you!

Weight loss without starvation
Our big Bullie here was very overweight. We started her in this food several months ago and she is slowly shedding some of those pounds. She also does not act like she is starving like some of the previous brands we have tried.

Dog Likes It! Makes Him Fart!
I bought the Natural Balance Fat Dogs Low Calorie Chicken Meal Salmon Meal, Garbanzo Beans, Peas & Oatmeal Adult Low-Calorie Dry Dog Food for Overweight Dogs, 6 lbs. bag.Yep. I have me an older, chubby ACD mixed breed dog!He is very cute and has been a such sweet dog ever since I adopted him as a 2 year old, from a shelter 13 years ago. This past year, my dog has become very greedy for food and bugs me for food all day long, which he never used to do. And, he as put on a few extra pounds, even though I have still been feeding him his normal brand of the dry food, which he has eaten pretty much since I got him.BUT, the canned food, which was also the Natural Balance brand, that I used a tablespoonful at dinner-time to make a bit of a gravy mixed with his dry food, has been very difficult to find since COVID.Now, it appears the Natural Balance canned food has been discontinued!I have had no choice but to switch over and try a few different brands of canned food, depending on what I could find!I kind of suspect that regardless of the brands I try now, they do not work as well with my dog's metabolism like the Natural Balance canned food did.I took my sweet, but now Fat Dog to the Vet for a full exam when I started noticing his greedy food behavior and his weight gain. I was suspecting Diabetes or Cushing, or something. But the Vet said he was fine, but just getting old. He did suggest I find a lower calorie dry kibble and look for that with whatever brands of the canned food I could find, which is what I've done. So, I bought a 5 lbs. bag of this Natural Balance Fat Dogs Food, and my dog really does seem to like it.I wanted to start with the small bag 1st, to be sure he would even eat it, and to see if he had any weird reactions to it.So far, he really likes the food and the food looks and smells fine. But after just a few days of my doggo happily consuming it, he started to have loud, stinky farts!Oh my they were loud! I was blaming my husband, as he farts all the time. He kept saying it was my dog, so I'd just laugh it off.But then yesterday, the silly dog came up to me to pester me for a snack, and all of a sudden he cut a huge, loud, long, odoriferous fart! The poor dog either got embarrassed of he scared himself, because he ran back to his bed and then just looked at me like he'd done something very wrong. I did not yell at him or anything like that, I was just so surprised at how loud it was, coming from a medium sized dog. It sounded like a horse fart!So now I have more carefully looked-over the ingredient list for this Dry Fat Dogs Dog food.I do notice that Garbanzo Beans and Peas are the 3'd and 4'th ingredients! Well, there the problem is!I sure know what legumes, all beans and peas, do to me, ha, ha!I know even better what they do to my husband, who notoriously eats a bean burrito, or split peas soup just about every single day for his lunch! So, now I have another Fart Monster in the house ,if I keep feeding him this Fat Dogs dog food.Time will tell if he looses any weight on this food. If he does, then I might keep feeding him this. But, I also am already looking for alternatives that will not be so gassy.UPDATE 02/10/2023:So my dog has eaten all of the 5 lb. bag, and I bought the 28 lb. bag for him that he has been eating currently.Since my dog has been eating this food for a few weeks, I have found that besides all the farting he now does, he has also been creating larger and firmer turds. Firmer turds for him is actually a good thing, as all of his life he has had somewhat looser turds. But these babies are about twice the size of his usual creations now! I guess that would be from all the fiber and legumes in the food.Anyway, I have NOT noticed ANY weight loss yet, but this food does seem to curb his incessant pestering of me for food all day long.I do feed him 2 meals a day. Morning he gets this kibble with a bit of warm water in it to soften it a bit.Evening he get this with about a tablespoon full of canned food mixed with warm water to make a gravy for the kibble. He seems to love this food both ways that I serve it.UPDATE 03/20/2023:Well, now it looks like I can't get this Fat Dog food from Amazon anymore, since it is always out-of-stock, or no longer available in my area! What is going on with the Natural Balance Dog food Company? 1st the canned food goes extinct! Now this Fat Dog Dry Kibble too? What a pain it is to try to buy decent dog food now-a-days!

Best Food ever
OMG, this food is a miracle!!! I have seen an AMAZING CHANGE in my 12 years old (not sure about doggie years). I thought I was going to lose him. He couldn't walk without losing his balance and was really bloated. He's on his second bag of FAT DOGS and the change is nothing short of a miracle!!! He's more active, can walk fast now without falling over and he's more happy! Thank you sooo much!!

Conflicted
Our dog started out really liking this dog food. We had them on it for probably a year and a half and then all of a sudden something changed and our dogs started getting allergies itching ears eating lots of grass so we changed it and that has almost gone away so we figured it might be the dog food, don’t know why all of a sudden this happened unless they changed something in the ingredients that we weren’t aware. We love our dogs and we do not want them to feel off. Would really love to feed them some fresh foods they have on the market but boy are they out of this world expensive so we do our best and add human grade food to our pups kibble but this brand is not for us anymore.
