It's moss. You put it in a tub, pour some water over it and it rehydrates. I used this moss for moss poles for my plants. My ONLY complaint is that it dries out really quickly. I don't think that's the moss's fault tho, it's the time of year and the humidity, or lack there of in my house.

Makes ALOT of moss! We are still using it months later! Definitely get your money worth in quantity and quality.

This is definitely dyed and I’m seriously doubting that it’s moss at all. I thought it was strange that the color was so different than in the photo, but thought maybe it was because it was dry. I mixed it in with some substrate and water and let it rehydrate. Well the color is still a very much an artificial green and looking closely it looks like thread or some kind of fiber; definitely not like any moss I’ve purchased in the past. I don’t feel comfortable putting it in with my snake, so it’s going in the trash unfortunately. I added photos of it dry and wet (it had already been mixed into the substrate, that’s the non green pieces).
