For the first time home security buyer.
I purchased a video security system from Amazon, made by Aosu. It came with 4 cameras, solar panels, and a base unit to monitor the exterior of our home. The package contained all the necessary mounting hardware. It was simple enough for a blind man to figure it out. I can say that because I am blind. Yes, I used visual assistance from my wife to adjust the field of view of the cameras and she is the administrator of the phone app. The product seemed full of features, even though we were not planning on using two-way voice, or alarm options. The system works as described with solar panels that keep the cameras 9600mA-Hr battery charged. These solar panels are 5w, on a 5v USB-C connection to the camera. I was hopeful that some of the wildlife around the home would provide some candid shots for my wife to see. Being blind myself, the home security was more for my wife and to be able to provide video in case of some issue in the neighborhood. The system works as described, but here are some notes that are not discussed that may be important in your decision making. If you are surveilling a home and you want to capture people approaching your home, this system is for you. Small animals do not trigger the system to create an event and transmit the video to the base unit. Thus, if there is a stable image without many events, the provided solar panels will work well. For those views such as a busy street with cars passing, the number of events will drain the camera battery in a day and there is no way even in bright sunlight that the solar panel provided can keep the camera battery charged. Other than a grey squirrel checking out this thing someone put on his tree, the camera does not capture the same squirrel on the handrail of our deck which is no more than 10 feet from the camera. The deck railing is well within the center of the wide-angle view of the back of our house, but not enough of change to capture an event. The camera system has no trouble capturing our lawn service, or pest control people that come and go.We have had many car accidents in front of our home because drivers fail to yield to each other, and many times I have been asked. Did you see what happened? What is a blind guy to say, other than do you want a police report? So, I wanted to be a good neighbor in the future since this wireless security system was available. The technical support staff at [email protected] where very helpful in working through the system setup, and the battery drainage issue. I purchased a separate 25w solar panel (from Sunjack) which does keep the street camera charged if there is some sunlight. During the winter in the Midwest, sunlight can be at a premium and extended days of cloudy weather will drain the batteries on the street camera. But once there is a ray of sunshine, the camera is back up and running. Overnight video captured that drains the camera battery by 40%, is back up to 100% by noon with the 25w solar panel. I resorted to plugging in one of the cameras into an AC to USB adapter mounted in our carport, since it had a view of the street also. The result is I spent about $100 additional on the larger solar panel, mounting hardware to hold it secure in high wind, and an AC to USB adapter and a longer USB-C cable to complete my installation. The only person who rings our doorbell is the US postman. All other delivery drivers just drop the package/food, take a picture and run. At least now we get an alert as they approach the front door. The nice multiple beeps that play when an event has been detected on my wife’s phone is not annoying since we hear it every time a car passes our house. But it does not interrupt what she is doing on her phone. She puts her phone in a do not disturbing mode in the evening, so the beeps do not wake us up.The system does not have the ability to do video streaming. It is designed to send events it captures. Sending a continuous stream of video would drain the batteries based on our street camera events. There are settings within the phone App to reduce what is being detected, less sensitive than its normal default setting. But when you want to see some wildlife, you may need a deer, or something larger to create an event. Birds, rabbits, and squirrels are being ignored, but it is good about capturing humans. We tried placing one camera inside the house looking out a window, and that did not work, I suspect the camera uses some ultrasonic sensor to detect motion beyond the video itself. I can report that a camera inside a nearly dark home is able to pick up our black cat playing in the living room, but since the house is dark, and he is black, not much is seen on the events. But it did detect motion in the dark. The system works as advertised so I rated it a 5 for its ease of setup, doing what it says will do, but there are lessons learned since this was my first video security system. The base unit can get firmware updates from Aosu. I purchased the 3-year protection plan, since the Aosu warranty is only for one year from date of purchase.

What’s not to Love ❤️? Works as good if not better than my wired security system.
There isn’t anything about these cameras that I don’t like. I have set up two of the four now for over a month use and they operate perfectly…clear picture, app set up was easy and designed well with nice layout to view cameras live motion and events. The angle of viewing is wide enough to see a good perspective. Night vision is very good.So far the solar panels are charging the batteries, which was the one aspect that drew me to buy these. My other security cameras had to be taken inside and charged, but these so far with the solar panels are charging and staying charged. I will have to report back on the longevity of the solar panels, as the one is going to be under some shade soon and that camera might become an issue staying charged. The notifications are nice and I turned off sound to them so it isn’t disturbing on my phone. The only reason I didn’t set up the other two cameras yet, is I carefully plan where I want them and currently have other cameras in use, some of which are a wired system. These solar powered work just as well and clear as my wired system. They really have a lot of nice features to turn on or off and don’t force a subscription, as the base unit has some built in memory storage. You can order a subscription, but EACH camera needs a subscription and it can get pricey. I did the trial subscription and then cancelled it, as I was satisfied with the recordings I could see in the base unit storage without a subscription. They do offer different levels of plans.Overall, I think this is a well thought out setup and I HIGHLY RECOMMEND

Excelent Customer Service
I ordered the 4 camera kit of Aosu Solar Power Security cameras, and Installation is very simple, and the App software to control, and setup the cameras and later on view the results is amazing, they are very clear, and the solar panel keeps the cameras at 100% of the capacity, so there is no need to remove the cameras and charge them.I had a situation that one of the cameras started giving some charging problems, and I contacted the Aosu support group via e-mail, and Nicole, started giving me instructions to check the camera, and after a few attempts, She found out there was a firm-ware issue, so, she sent me a new camera, which arrived in about two days, went thru the installation process, and everything is back to perfection. the incredible customer service I received from Nicole is of a VIP. Thanks Nicole, I know what you mean by quality. Connectivity, Easy of Use, Recording capability , and battery life. I am glad I replaced my old cameras for something much much better,

Our first security camera system
We like a lot of features in comparison to another common brand, the gr ater resolution and price worthiness to get 4 cameras with solar panels. WiFi is used to connect cameras to the home base. What we did not realize is that the home base needs to be connected by Ethernet cable directly to the modem-router not only for setup but for the system to work. There are comments on the Oasu community website saying there is a way to select wifi on the app for the home base connection to the router, but this is not so for this model. In order to have strong enough wifi to all the cameras we bought a long white cat6 ethernet cord in order to reposition the home base some distance from our router where it could better reach cameras. The positioning of the solar panels is more flexible because of the cable connection to the cameras. Our Florida home has metal roof and large overhangs for shade so to reach sunlight we attached the panels to the front edge of the gutter. We are trying to learn ways to reduce notifications for false alarms on the app.The cameras have a fair amount of ability to have adjustment of their angles. The range of vision is 166 degrees and wider than other brands.
