Poof!
I am better at learning from DVD's as they are typically easier to follow than written explanations, plus you can see the intended result.Of all the books I've purchased, however, this book offers what I believe to be a good variety of magic routines, especially for beginning magicians. Some of the effects offer good "Wow-Factor-Results" regardless of skill level. I'm keeping this book in my library and I believe it's worth purchasing and recommending.

A little beat up, but it was cheap.
The book itself is well used and a little beat up, but everything is intact and the binding is strong. It was cheap, and from 1995, so I didn't expect it to be a new fresh copy. Many of the tricks in the book are still done today and are very popular on YouTube, so it's nice to see how they are preformed.Very clear illustrations and explanations of the tricks and covers a wide range of effects. From coin, to card, to paper, to rope, to rings, to wands and even shadow puppets. It also has a list of historical magicians, both past and recent to the time it was written. It has a question and answer section for new magicians, some methods of the sale (performance) and the objective of discipline and practice.Very well written, easy to understand and not a bunch of Needless fluff to fill page space. It gets right to the methods, effects and production.Any new magician would find a lot of value in this title. Get a copy.

useful not great
has a lot to offer, but most tricks will never be used; some are very outdated. still useful for someone getting started; plus fun extras like shadow puppets and more.

Highly Recommended
I've owned this book for many years and recently purchased it to share with a young man who wants to get into magic. Bill Tarr's descriptions, illustrations and approach to teaching through the printed word is outstanding. Everything is clear and concise. With this book...all you need is the time and dedication to master the magical miracles outlined between the covers! I recommend this book!

Lots of work behind the scene
Tricks are easy to do but you can’t do them any time Or anywhere most of them require lots of materials and spend time to prepare them before to perform
