RUSTINS Quick Dry Step and Tile Paint, Red, 500 ml (Pack of 1)

Used this paint to restore some old window sills in our 1950s built house. The window sills were originally made from doorstep tiles and were looking awful, so I was considering paying someone to replace them, which would have likely cost a couple of £hundred.Thought I'd try painting them the colour they would have been originally instead, using this paint. They now look fantastic, almost like new. Only took 2 coats, and the paint dries within a few hours so it was all done within an afternoon. Saved me a lot of money too. Highly recommend for this purpose!

Lovely paint to work with - quite velvety and practically glides on. One little 250ml tin completed two fairly largish, old stone front door steps and a smaller door ledge - it really goes a long way.I removed all the old flaking paint from the steps before applying two coats, stirring the paint regularly throughout. I only left an hour between each coat as it dried really quickly. (The steps were in the shade but it was a fairly warm day). Just be careful not to overload your brush as it is a bit 'drippy'.Having more of a terracotta / red brick tone, the finished colour is even better than I could have imagined. I'm impressed with the overall result, especially when it rained the next day and the steps looked like cars do when they've been polished with little bubbles of water resting on the surface!

I have used Rustins on tiles, steps, concrete & brick and always looked back at the high performance finish it promises with immense satisfaction. Always give this paint a very - thorough stir before applying. The best result is achieved by and applying two coats using a quality paint brush. Leave the first coat to dry for 24 hours, then give it a light rub over with fine sandpaper, then a wipe with a damp clothe and let this dry for an hour. Then apply the second coat & admire your work? One can leave their brush in a jar of water between coats, but once done, clean it with solution so its readyfor its next job. Being quick-drying Rustins is a blessing when used outdoors due to our uncertain weather and I wouldrecommend this paint to others without hesitation.

What an amazing product! After many years of having a traditional 'Cardinal' red step I decided it was time for a change and having painted my door burgundy/wine (Monarch) my russetty red step clashed. A black step was the perfect solution especially as my door 'furniture' is now black. When I opened the can of Rustins the paint seemed quite thin, but do not be deceived by this as coverage is fantastic, so easy to use and no drips or runs. It has excellent pigmentation, you could probably get away with one coat but I am happy to add a second coat as advised to be sure of a perfect density of colour. Another bonus is that brushes are cleaned in seconds using only water! The step is 'touch dry' in half an hour and can be painted again after 2 - 3 hours. There are other black step paints on the market but one of the top brands (Ronseal) has a grainy non slip matte finish (described as satin) something I didn't want as imho non slip matte is more siutable for a shop/business environment. I am delighted with my new glossy, very black step and would highly recommend this product to anyone who wants a similar result! :-)

As soon as I opened the box that it arrived in, I could see it was leaking. The tin was still sealed with cellophane & that was the only thing that was holding the lid in place. There was no damage on the tin, so I guess that the lid was not put on properly from the factory, as once I finished painting, the lid went back on very securely.As for the paint itself, it covers really well, easy to use & looks good. If it wasn't for the leak & I had to cover my hands in black paint just to get the cellophane off, I would have given it 5 stars.

The paint is fine and dries really quickly so handy for me as I only have one entrance. Goes on smoothly and smells fine. I have used 4 coats so hopefully it'll be durable.
